For Kaysville Junior, the season is over, but vivid memories will last for quite some time of a season filled with success. THE MOST recent success was the Knights 1 victory over Farmington Junior for rights to the 1983 Davis County Junior High basketball championship. Jack Reese, who seemingly falls in love each year with junior high kids, came back from a December illness to help lead the Kaysville group to a perfect 12-- 0 record. 86-- 4 Sips' Davis County Courthouse building in Farmington City, Davis County, State of Utah, on April 18, 1983, at 12:00 noon of said day for the purpose of foreclosing a Trust Deed executed by David Lee Ball and Karen H. THE TEAMS, in order to compete for the title, had to win the tournaments in their respective ends of the district. Farmington, the South Davis Champion and Kaysville, the North Davis champion, had more at stake than just the championship. Just like the U of U and BYU, the Yankees and the Dodgers or the Army and the Navy, Kaysville and Farmingtons rivalry was just as special. Thats quite a feat for a group of junior high kids, said Reese. REESE put it, Well continue to miss Vance around here for a long time. His philosophy is much like mine, in that we believe the program is for the kids. Well really miss him. Kaysville wasnt one to start out slow. The TAYLOR SIMPLY had a dazzling season. Thats why he isnt hesitant in the least of dotting his roster with plenty of seventh and eighth graders. This year he carried 23 kids on the roster which included five seventh graders, eight from the eighth grade and the rest ninth graders. Among all those kids this year, was a pure bundle of talent. When December came, the Kaysville team was ready and they showed it by whipping Ben Lomond 7 in their first game. THINGS DIDNT get any better for the competition. For the season the Knights averaged 75 points per game on offense and held their opponents to a mere 35 points per game. The Kaysville program has to thank Glen Taylor who took over for a short time this season when Reese became ill again. Id come to the games, but still wasnt strong enough to coach, he said. THE TEAM Kaysville beat for1 the Davis County title was a division of students that walked the halls of Kaysville last year, Farmington Junior. The school was split with the newly formed junior high in Farmington coming into existence. Leading the Farmington crew was Vance Downs who exited from Kaysville Junior.
