I he scholat ships are cash awards of SI 000. offered to students of color who meet resident status for tuition purposes. The money is to be used to further the student's education. T lie applicants are judged on aeademicvo-calional other service activities, personal goals, and financial need. The purpose of the UCAMI IE Scholarships is to assist as many students of color as possible. Each Utah college and university receives two or three scholarships, depending on size. Students vv ho apply must complete an extensive written application, and prov ide a transcript of their prev ions grades. They also must participate in a scholarship interv ievv. where they are not only graded on content, but also composure, grammar, attitude. presentation, and efficiency. Snow College recipient. Clovis Maez. of Kearns, was a football player who gave up the game so he could place his priorities on academics and his family. He will graduate from Snow College next spring, and is planning to further his education. ID plans to have a career in law enforcement. The other recipient from Snow College is sophomore. Torry Thompson, of Layton, who also played football for Snow College.
