Show Iage 12A, Lakeside Heie, !Simmlr More Women Taking Technology Classes 13, 19150 Its getting to be more and more a in the School of Technology at Weber State College, once pretty much a male province. A. Kent Randall, dean of the school, says the enrollment for the current fall quarter shows the School of Technology with 337 female students out of a total enrollment of 1,883. That figures out at 17.9 percent,' or close to one student in five on the distaff side. Of course, most are in the trraditional womens areas such as cosmetology, which has an enrollment of 75 or fashion merchandising which has 60. There are another 41 in the two-yedata processing program and 59 seeking womens world ar bachelor degrees in the same area. But the interesting aspect is the way women are coming into the areas. The numbers arent large yet, but the percentages are, Dean Randall said. Some programs are up 100 percent in female enrollment over a year ago, and 500 percent over two or three years back. For example, there are now 15 women registered in and another 12 in electronic technology. Another 13 are in manufacturing engineering technology, and four in machine tool technology. There are even one each in auto service, auto body repair and diesel service this quarter, where most of the time there had been none before. The reason? Dean Randall believes part of it lies in efforts to attract women to technology skills, where the pay and employment chances are good. Other parts are the good placement record of women graduates, and a generally friendly climate in industry to women after it has been found that they compete on an equal basis with men and have excellent performance records. Former Utah Educator Honored at Weber State Dr. Henry Aldous Dixon, former Utah educator and lawmaker; was honored for his service to the state in many areas as the major campus drive at Weber State College was memorialized in his honor in ceremonies Friday which were part of the WSC Homecoming Week. Without house and settles on furnishings. 1. Check the capacity of the humidifier. A humidifier should add more than just a few gallon of moisture to the air when relative humidity levels are low indoors. For the average home, for instance, the Payne humidifier that we recommend can add 5.3 pounds of water per hour (there are 8 pounds to a gallon of water), and for the larger can add 9.2 pounds of moisture. This is more , another unit than enough for the desired 30 to 40 indoor relative humidity level tor comtort and health. , 2. sure there is some way to control the amount of moisture that is added by the humidifier. In the same way that your furnace will work with tfie thermostat to see that proper heat is provided for different temperature ranges, a humidifier should have some control to determine how much moisture is required at a given time. Humidifiers that hove controls on or in the furnace itself for "high or low are not efficient enough and cannot be controlled from living quarters. 3. Be We recommend the Payne humidifier because we know, through our own researthat it will perform well. How do we know?
