'SUNDAY Neighbors Worry About Droinage m yiin mu Condominium Plan Stirs Outcry It was the supporters of the road era against the Parkridge Drive crowd Thursday at the Layton City Council meeting. The council couldnt decide which side it is on and tabled action LAYTON old dump on the proposal. The two sides were polarized over the issue of a condominium development near the county landfill on property that has been used for agricultural purposes for nearly 100 years. The developers also proposed giving the old dump road the new name of Parkridge Drive. Lynn Morgan, representing Specialists Providing Capital Corp. (SPC) told the it council his company is proposing a condominium development on 16 acres of property at 3100 N. 1150 E. He said the townhouse condominiums would sell for approximately $60,000 to $70,000, and the 195-un- Pair Attend Last Training- Session FARMINGTON trip to Colorado State University for a training session is under way- - for two Davis County inspection and maintenance technicians. The technicians, Jerry Thompson and Rod Coslett, are attending the Environmental school on Protection Agency-sponsore- d inspection and maintenance of motor vehicles for a y period which started Sunday. Richard Harvey, director of Davis County Environmental House, said it is the last schooling session of this type the EPA is sponsoring. He said agency officials seem to feel theyve gotten the word out and do not need to sponsor any more. Harvey requested the funds for the trip from the Davis County Commission Thursday. A development would be built in two phases. Owners of adjacent property, Jerry Jaques and Warren Pence, told the council they are afraid that the proposed development would cause a worsening of a drainage problem they have had for years. Jaques also said he has a feed lot on property in the County adjacent to the proposed condominiums. He said his 200 to bdor that 300 cattle cause a country-typ- e city people would soon complain about. My family has used this property to feed cattle for 92 years, Jaques said. Pence said he is against any part of the development. He said such concentrated building above his property on the existing slope would create seepage. We get water in our homes now when the citys retention pond gets more water in it than usual, he said. The developers plan to use the city retention pond to collect runoff water from the development until a sewer line is brought up from existing storm sewer to the south. We want a place where you could milk a goat and not have all these city folks moving in, Pence said. IN UTAH H conflict between property owners who both want to use their property. Councilman John Baker said the ole dump road to the Davis County landfil which forms the northern boundary of the development and provides access to High way 193, is busy already with people using the landfill. He also pointed out that garbage is often blown off trucks along the road, even though city ordinances require the loads to be secured. Morgan said the development includes parking area for recreational vehicles along the old dump road and landscaping to buffer the area from the condominiums. He said maintenance workers for the development would have to remove any trash that might collect along the road. Morgan said the developers plan to call the old dump road Parkridge Drive.
