Its still two weeks away, but the Viewmont Vikings treated themselves, and their fans, when they tricked Highland to a stunning defeat with a 8 score. 31-2- The cool temperatures kept many fans away from this Region but the hardy galFour match-up- , lery of spectators saw a game which always gives coaches fits. With less than two minutes to go in the game, the Vikes were tasting the chance for post season play. ts 31-2- 8 SALT LAKE CITY Davis County high schools sent their best women tennis players to Liberty Park in an effort to overcome the Salt Lake monopoly, but none of the women came home with anything more than hurt pride as Salt Lake County High Schools agian took all the honors. Twenty-tw- o Region One and Region Four survivalist entered the Liberty Park courts with a desire to win, but no one came out unbeaten. Some area players were able to advanced to the second rounds. Sandy Bird and Jill Belnap of Roy won their first round over Bingham High in second doubles only to fall to East. East later went on to take first place. Davis Highs Cindy Miles and Lori Jorgensen, also playing in second doubles, took but fell to Sky Line in the second round. Davis also won in the first round in first doubles with Chris Freeman and Michelle Moffit. But Freeman and Moffit couldnt handle Weber. Bon-nevi- le Bountifuls first doubles players, Becky Huff and Robin Murray advanced into the second round with a win over Cottonwood. In the third singles, Kym Palmer of Davis beat her Granger opponent. Martha Johnson and Jay me Lunnen of Bountiful both went into the second round of second and first singles respectively. None of the local participants saw any action after the second round but many gave their matches excitetment. Brighton High School took first place in the tournament with four freshmen on their team.
