Barker Funeral services were held at Lindquists Kaysville Mortuary Chapel for John Edwin (Jack) Barker, Jr. of 146 East 200 North, Lawrence Hodson Succumbs At 87 Oct. 18 Kaysville, who died Sunday Oct. 14, 1979 in Layton. He was born Nov. 10, 1902 in Kaysville, the son of John Edwin and Rose Hannah Bacon Barker, Sr. Funeral services were held ' Oct. 16 for Lawrence Hodg-- 1 son, 87, of 1238 West 1700 ' South, Syracuse. He was married to Vera Briggs on '"April 21, 1915 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Oct. 19, - 1954. He married Pearl Cox Stoker April 12, 1957 and she ' too preceded him in death. "Mr. Hodgson was a farm Owner and operator and had been employed at the Ogden Arsenal. He had been a cu- ' stodian for the Clearfield ''Elementary School and North ' Davis Jr. High School. She was born Oct. 8, 1903 iii Cleveland, Ida., a daughter of Augustus C. and Lovisa M. Austin Nance. to 12, 1932 in Coalville. The marriage was later solem- nized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Jan. 10, 1966. A registered nurse she had practiced as a private nurse in Layton.. She was raised in Idaho and Enoch," Texas and had lived in Independence, Mo., in the Central States Mission Home from 1926 to 1929. She had lived in Layton since 1932. She graduated as a registered nurse from the LDS Nurses College in 1932. member of the Lay-to- n Fifth LDS Ward, she had been a Relief Society visiting teacher for 45 years; served in the Primary and Sunday School; was Stake Junior Sunday School Coordinator; and had worked in the Ogden and Salt Lake LDS Temples. She taught Red Cross classes during World War II and had worked extensively for the handicapped and disabled. Sherman (Nancene A.) Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sabin have left for Vancouver British Columbia where he will undergo surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Burnham Leonard visited in Manti on Sunday with their daughter Mr. and Mrs. and Tom Reeves. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bloxham attended the funeral service of a cousin Mrs. Viola Grah-m- a Gam in Salt Lake City last week. Mrs. Gam was a former Kaysville resident. Mr. and Mrs. Varge Thompson and two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Thompson and family of Layton and Mr. and Mrs. Val Thompson and family of Kaysville spent the weekend at Mount Nybo. who Todd Ballantyne recently returned from his mission is now attending Weber State College. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ballantyne. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Larkin and their children have moved to Mantua to make their home and will open a store there. Scotts brother Brett Larkin is now running the Baers Canyon Sporting Goods store in Kaysville. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Larkins of Darby, Mont, have been visiting for three days with his mother, Mrs. Lavida Larkins and with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Golden Taylor. Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Kent King and family were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin King of Logan. Mrs. Sally Higginson re- turned from a two week vacation to San Diego, Calif, where she visited with her Mr. sister and brother-in-laand Mrs. Rulon Rasmussen who are on a mission to the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center. While there she visited with Elder Todd Webster who is serving an LDS mission there. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sides attended their Pinochle Club in Roy Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Siddoway. Kristine Ballantyne, Sandra Green, Susie Law, Laura Phillips and Ross Phillips are among the Fruit Heights students who are attending the Brigham Young University in Provo this year. Mrs. Leona Thompson recently underwent surgery. , Mrs. Beth Tall,. Mr; and Mrs. Dell Larkin of Kaysville and Mr. and Mrs. Burnham Leonard of Farmington attended the wedding reception in Ogden of their niece Kolene Kessling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kessling. Mrs. Kessling will be remembered as the former Elaine Bybee of Kaysville. Other members for arrived from the wedding and will be remembered by many in Kaysville as they and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bybee were former Kaysville residents. Mrs. Mary Ann Walters and Mrs. Phyllis Nelson of Richfield were visitors of Mrs. Mary Walters last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Layton returned from a trip to Blackfoot, Idaho where they spent time visiting with their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Layton. Jerry Walters of Billings, Mont, visited with his mother Mrs. Mary Walters during the week. Other visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Kim Walters and children of Hyrum. Miss Vickie Sides and her fiancee Pete Carrier of Salt Lake City were Sunday dinner guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sides. Mrs. Sides attended a bridal , shower in Bountiful Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Betty Turnip honoring Vickie. It was hosted by the school teachers of the Taylor School in Bountiful. Vickie will be married Nov. 17. Mrs. Sarah Giles spent the weekend in Taylorsville with her son Jerry Giles and family. She was on hand for the birthday of her granddaughter Kim. Ryan and Brandi Arnold of Layton spent Thursday and Friday with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Heath. Elder Dean E. Garner, son of Mr. and Mrs. David H. Houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Nichols and family are their daughter Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Springer and son Nathan Craig of Cody, Wyo. They will be visiting a week before leaving for Ohio to make their home. Mrs. Springer is the former Marianne Nichols. They were on hand for her brother Elder Wayne T. Nichols farewell testimonial on Oct. 21 in the Kaysville 12th LDS Ward. Elder Nichols will serve his mission in the Japan Sendia Mission. Lyle Green has been confined to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City undergoing treatment for a heart attack.
