Golding SPRING CIT- Y- Funeral services will be held today, June 10, at noon in the Spring City Second LDS Ward, 104 South Main, for George Elwin Golding, who died on June 5, 1998, at his home. Friends and family may call at the chapel in Spring City from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. He was born May 23, in , Price, the 1923, fourth child of Loren B. and Olive Branch Golding. He spent his early childhood and growing up years in Price. He was attending Carbon Junior College and working for the Carbon Emery Market when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was sworn in as a cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Oct. 29, 1942. He flew 35 from missions in Guam to Japan for which he earned the "Air Medal With Five Clusters". He also received the Flying "Distinguished Cross" for extraordinary service beyond the call of duty. He married Catherine Francis Lamb on Oct. 3, 1944, in Suffolk, VA. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on June 16, 1950. After the war, he from the graduated University of Utah with a BSCE degree. He served in the Korean War for three years. He then worked as a mine engineer at Horse Canyon in Eastern Utah for four years. For the next 23 years he worked as an engineer for McDonnell Douglas, in Long Beach, CA and his wife raised their seven boys and one girl in Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes, CA. He held many positions married Kathleen Christie Irons, June 20, 1939, in the Manti LDS playing the organ and had a great love for all music. He was totally devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife; children, Stephen (Anna) Morris, Chester, VA; Margaret Kaye BurSmith, (Ronald) bank, CA; Christine (Roy) Pogue, Wales; 13 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and a brother Harris M. (Vir- Temple. He served an LDS mission in the Southern states. As part of his mission he sang in a Mormon Elders Quartet that was broadcast on the radio. He composed his own music, enjoyed ginia) Anderson, Danville, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beth Ostler. In 1992, they moved to where Spring City George loved the industrious, honest people. His love of life, warmth, tenderness, competitive spirit and dominant will shall long be remembered and loved by those who knew down-to-eart- 'him. He is survived by his wife, Jerry; two sisters. His greatest joy was being with his family. all His grandchildren loved him and will miss him very much. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He was a high priest, serving in the bishopric, a music conductor and assistant stake clerk. He made many , music contributions in the church. He was in the sheep business, later he worked for Nehi Beverage Company. He was in the motel business in Phoenix and served as president of the Motel Association and a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers.
