Show v After 17 years June Varied opportunity found forest in Manti-LaS- Fred Lohrengel to leave Snow; takes assignment at SUSC EPHRAIM Dr. Frederick Lohrengel II will be leaving Snow College after 17 years as professor of Geology and Mathematics. Fred has accepted employment at Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, and he and Linda and their family will move to Cedar in August. ;; Dr. Lohrengel came to Snow College directly from the University of Georgia Marine Institute where he studied Marine Phytoplankton. e Snow was his first teaching assignment, but he had taught part-- ' time as a graduate student at Brigham Young University and also at the University of Missouri. Bom and reared in Kansas City, . MO, Fred attended public schools has . party! June 30 will be Freds last official day at Snow College, and the Lohrengels will move to Cedar City about August 1. At SUSC, Fred will teach basically the same classes he has taught at Snow, plus an upper level geology class each quarter. When asked about his years at I have really Snow, Fred said, enjoyed the years I have spent at Snow College and in Ephraim. Its a .chairing the Advancement and .Tenure Committee. During his years at Snow, Dr. Lehrengel has alwo served as a member of the Library Committee, as advisor to the Associated Men Students, and as chairman of the Committee for the United States. In his LDS ward, Fred currently pleasant place to teach, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my association with the personnel at the college. They are good people to work with and to live near, and well really miss the good folks in this area. We do plan to return to the campus from time to time, however, so we wont lose touch. The Lohrengel family - Fred and Linda and their children - Carl 13; Bethany 7, and Kara 3 - will be missed and we wish them well in their new assignment and hope that theyll return to visit often! teaches Sunday School and has served in the Stake Sunday School Presidency, the Ward Sunday School Presidency, Explorer post advisor, counselor in one of the Snow College ward bishoprics, and as a home teacher. As a surveyor, Fred has used his expertise in doing some survey work Ephraim Sanpete County P.T.A., and have long been active in that organization. Linda has been involved and active in almost every worthwhile cause one could mention in the Sanpete area. She has been Primary President, Blazer teacher. Stake Homemaking Day leader for her church, and has served tirelessly on numerous important Ephraim City and Snow College committees. I plan to keep my committee assignment as chairman of the Snow College Centennial she said, for Special Events, because Id like to see this assignment through to Snows Centennial in 1988. Shes a real asset in that capacity and has already come up with some super ideas to enhance Snows birthday City. The Lohrengels have been active in community affairs as well as at Snow College. They have been especially recognized for their beautiful home and garden. With Fred on the photo are his wife, Linda, their children Carl Amy Gillespie (a Snow student who lived with the family) Bethany and Kara. The council met with Odell Miner, a municipalities consultant for the Rocky Mountain Institute of Public Affairs. Miner talked to each member of the council about their appointed jobs on the council.
