Eric came on board when Floyd Holm was President of Snow College and. has worked for Marvin Higbee and Steven Bennion. Hilmer Peterson was head of the maintenance department at the time, and he, Eric, Fred Bailey and Ivan Aider made up the crew. This was in late John Armstrong, Spencer Olsen, Ivan Benson, Vem Allred and Reed Noyes. Erics present job involves ali of the mechanical maintenance for the college. During the years, he has supervised as many as six men. He is indeed a handy man and a man of all trades, which proved invaluable to Snow during the years of his employment. Bom and reared in Ephraim, Eric is the son of Mrs. Alta Bastion and the late Elmer Nicholls. He is married to the former Elgia Braith-wait- e of Manti. A veteran of World War II, Eric served a stint in the U.S. Navy and was aboard the U.S.S. Lexington when it was hit and sunk by enemy fire in the Coral Sea on May 8, 1942. The Lexington was a converted carrier, as was the U.S.S. Cophee on which he sailed. Eric and Elgia have four children Dale Lee, Ephraim; Glen, Fountain Green; Suzanne Cox and Carol Shaw, Manti. Elgia says the thing Eric is looking forward to with the greatest anticipation is playing with his nine grandchildren. The cafeteria had just been completed, Eric recalls, and it was about ready to be used when I came to work here. So he has seen the campus grow to its present size during his years of employment. Not only does the campus cover a much larger area now, but the student body has grown dramatically as war-surpl- for them, she said. He and Elgia also plan to travel a bit, fish, hunt and ride horses. He is well known for the mules he has trained, and so there will be more time for that as well.
