Rol-lan- NICOLE received a Silver Medal in the Special Olympics Figure Skating competition. Rachel Donoho, 12, started skating in October, 1984. She competed in figure skating competition Rachel spent four days on Jan. and three nights w ith all the Special Olympic athletes and their coaches in Park City, also performing at the 7-- 8. Salt Palace in Salt Lake City. SHE RECEIVED fourth place ribbon and a rose from her division in figure skating. She is the daughter of Ben F. and Mary Donoho of Fruit Heights. Lisa Clark. 15 is the daughter of Ronald and Diane Clark of Fruit Heights. She is a 9th grade student at North Layton Junior High. She won the gold medal in figure skating. Ricky Warren. Lisa Clark and Bonnie Adams. They were coached by Mrs. Chris Warren and Mrs. Karen Adams. The North Layton students participated in .speed skating and figure skating events. Monte Vista fielded a cross country skiing team consisting of Kim Atkinson, Shane Turner and Nick Raminez. They also entered a figure skating team made up of Rachael Donoho, Chris Chrisman and Nichole Jensen. Coaching the Monte Vista students were Sherrie Mitchell, Jim West and Michelle McClain. CHRIS Chrisman and Ricky Taking honors in special Olympics competition are North Layton Junior High School students: Ricky Warren. left, gold and silver winner; Lisa Clark, gold medalist and Bonnie Adams, brone medal winner. Michael Moore, gold medalist, was absent. Warren qualified to participate in the International Special W'inter Olympics that will be held in March in Park City. In addition to the special feeling that comes through competing and winning prizes designed just for the individual and the individual's unique ability, the Special Olympic participants enjoyed many activities including dances, programs, games and an impressive closing ceremony. THE MONTE Vista Students stayed in a Park City condominium so they could benefit from all the festivities. Besides the two teams entered by schools in the Special Olympics, several individual students from Davis County competed in the Winter Olympic events. BONNIE Adams bronze medal was as impressive as a gold award. She received this top prize while skating with a broken elbow. Bonnie was injured when another parti cipant bumped into her and caused Bonnie to slip on the ice during the warm-u- p period.
