The closing date is March %1,1971. A $1,000 first prize, a $750 second prize and a $500 third prize, wili be awarded for outstanding paintings in any style from non-objective to realistic, or any type from still life to portraiture. Acceptable mediums include oil, watercolor, casein and acrylic. Maximum size of any one painting is 3 x 4 feet; minimum size is 1 x 2 feet. The American Federation of Arts will judge the entries which mustbe submitted via 35-mm or 2% x 2% inch colorslides. To Run 2 Weeks at BYU Theopening night for Twilight Song, an wricina three-act comedy to be presented in the BYU Margetta Arena Theatre is set for 8 p.m. Oct. 30, It will run for 12 nights and two Tuesday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. Thefirst serena production of the season, the script was written by Pat Metten, wife of play’s director, Dr. Charles Metten and has a cast of 1, ‘Theplay takes place in Idaho during the year 1912 and is definitely rated ““G."’ It concerns the Swenson family, several neighbors, and the events that touch the lives of each of them in the spring of that year. Papa, the patriarch of the Swenson family, is played by Will C. Hazlett with Cozy Spitzer as Mama. Their daughters are portrayed by Cynthia Oaks, Machell Mitchell, Mary Jane Heggessy, Joy Platz, and Ginger Woolley. Marv Gardner portrays John Manning,a neighbor from town who tries to convince Papa to sell the ranch and go into business with him. John's wife and Mama’s confidante is played by Dianne Johnson. Steve Dransfield has the role of Frank Crockett, who comes “to install their new indoor bathroom.” Greg Rasmussen as Ed Pentry supplies the young suitor to the eldest Jensen daughter. An exvaudeville actor who lives across the street, Tim Nolan,is interpreted by Jim Good. He is a friend of the family and gives some funny moments with the children in the beginning of the play. Cheryl Higginson rounds out the cast with her presentation of Miss Fulsom, the prim and proper school teacher who has probably seen the entire Swenson family through school. Tickets for Twilight Song will go on sale a week before the performance in the box office of the Harris Fine Arts Center. Pianist Gary Gratfman To Perform ‘Y’ Concert Gary Graffman, former child prodigy who has developed into one of the top seasoned pianisis of the world, will perform at Brigham Young University Wednesday, (Oct. 21) on the BYU-Community Concert Series. Mr. Graffman, who last appeared in Provo in 1959, will play in the de Jong Concert Hall of Harris Fine Arts Center, beginning at 8:15 p.m. Born 42 years ago in New York City of Russian parents Mr. Graffman began to study piano at the age of three. Four years later he was accepted at Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music as a pupil of the late Mme. Isabelle Vengerova, with whom he studied for the next ten years. Mr. Graffman, who has also worked intensively with Viadimir Horowitz, was winner GARY GRAFFMAN of the Leventritt Award in 1949.
