neon by the B C military band A public celebration without music is not complete and the martial strains of the band seems to put the spirits of the people in just the right condition to properly enjoy the festivities the meeting at the tabernacle was pretty well attended but there was room for a great many more the building had bad been profusely and artistically eally decorated by the committee the national colors prevailing and the effect was most pleasing the pro gram was carried out as announced and the oration by ron hon matt thomas was waa a gem lie he began by reminding the people that the day was a sacred one and the day upon w which the declaration la of liberty was confirmed ci he began at the beginning re rehearsing the causes that led up to the struggle for yet it was so earnestly delivered that it partook ot of the nature ot of a sermon and its truths made an impression on every heart in the afternoon the people throng ed to the city park where games Is continuing that work this season dr fortier called at the news office and among other things stated that at the annual convention of government irrigation engineers and agents held in denver deaver ast autumn prof mclaughlin read a splendid paper on the work he has been doing in this city and there has been so many inquiries come to the department on that subject that he wanted to come here and get the information info he could on the ground stated that he was more than pleased with whai he has found here and the information he has baa gained from prof mclaughlins ins notes and charts will be disseminated throughout the united states and anywhere else where irrigation Is a factor ln in the development of the country dr fortier was delighted with the electric well ell reclamation
