In technical jobs where it may cost thousands of dollars to train an employee, turnover becomes too expensive to let burnout go unnoticed, Taylor said. As a result, several employers, including the Primary Childrens Medical Center, offer workshops on recognizing the stages of burnout and ways of replacing them with an lifestyle. Burnout is 100 percent avoidable, Taylor believes. The problem can be avoided by taking responsibility for changes needed in a lifestyle. Taylor presented five recognizable stages of burnout and suggested possible counter responses. The first stage of burnout psychological is diagnosed by extended fatigue and lethargy, possibly the result of lifestyle imbalance andor overindulgences. Irritability, People Problems Irritability and difficulty in handling people problems are distinctions of the second, social stage of burnout, Taylor said.
