All deer must be properly tagged immediately after Waterfowl Raws At present, Ogden Bay Waterfoul Management Area is providing a resting and feeding spot for almost 1500 whistling swan. This number is expected to increase to approximately 20,000 by the end of November. Duck and goose hunters are reminded that only the holders of the 2500 special swan permits are allowed to take swan. Duck hunting so far this season has been somewhat spotty with the best results accompanying the few storm fronts that have moved through northern Utah. Duck populations are slightly up over last year but the ducks are rafting up on the large open bodies of water and out on the mudflats and shoreline of the Groat Salt Lake. At present the majority of ducks are divers, also teal, and spoonbills have been showing up in the hunters bag. Goose hunting pressure has dropped off since the opening. The goose population in the area remains high, but the Canadian honkers have moved. |
