several id matters were exceedingly lively lu in DISTRICTS DISTRICT S ONE TO SIX I 1 there was no opposition to tuo the peoples ticket the liberala Liber alb not being of sufficient numbers to make a showing the first school district A elected james D DS shirlin St irlin as ad trustee for stiv three aars term second S district wm mcgregor three bree years third district john wayman three years yeara fourth district john C cutler for the term of one year W V F smith three years fifon district Distri cL joseph marcroft ahree years sixth district thomp thomas green for the term ot of two years james anderson three 3 ears DISTRICT for ahe abe past two years this district as been afe ii carried by the liberals nd a victory kasnot was not expected by the coples party they were out in ree however and succeeded in electing the chairman IM I 1 M waddell and secretary herbert vaa dam before the liberals had gained the ascendancy cen dancy in numbers the members of the People lo 3 party generally conducted themselves in an orderly manner but howling bowling and yelling indulged in by some ot of the other side was simply fearful finally the COB confusion fUSIon became so great that 1 0 J hollister arose and expressed his bis cri chagrin agrin at such proceedings the balloting for a trustee to fill the full term of three years wars occupied considerable sid erable time F M bishop was nominated by the liberals and henry wallace for the people at the close of the count mi bishop was declared elected by to 67 EIGHTH the members oi of the peoples party in the eighth district felt that theirs was a forlorn hope A canvass of the registered voters had revealed the fact that the liberals had a working majority notwithstanding this fact the peoples men made a gallant fight polling their full strength to a man they nominated J D H mcallister as their Hian wan while the liberals put up C 0 whittemore Whitte Boore the result ot of the election was that mr mcallister was defeated his bis total ban being 50 while mr whittemore received 60 0 NINTH DISTRICT the opposition to the peoples party in this district strict li was viry very pronounced and what they lacked in numbers they the ance ma e up in bitterness la in fact their defeat has caused several of them to feel very mad to have their candidate who was a school teacher of good reputation beaten by a man whose chief qualifications for the office was his is good sense made them feel and today to day they the were not backward in expressing g their ir indignation this did not avail however tor for the people rejoiced in a majority for their candidate john F over J B moreton the vote being r 23 to lo 10 TENTH DISTRICT in this ward the regular peoples party nominee was william taylor who bad held the tae office of trustee for three years william fuller was elected chairman and andja J H paul secretary the name of william taylor was put in nomina 1 aion on behalf of the peoples party while J M young of 00 liberal side nominated wm fuller who had formerly acted as trustee tro stee and who is oneff one of the peoples party J M young and J H paul spoke in favor of mr fuller and the balloting was proceeded with the result being that mr fuller received 29 votes and mr taylor 20 the ke rev mr iliff expressed his satis faction at the interest and ability manifested in school affairs by his bis new friends in the tenth district to which he had lately come adam moved that it be the sense of the meeting that the trustees during the coming year extend every facility in their power to children whose parents are wo ID poor or to pay for their schooling in order er that the benefits of education may be dispensed alike to rich and poor carried ELEVENTH DISTRICT last evening was the first time that had madelny showing in this district they hey rallied in full force and presented as their candidate judge jonathan C royle boyle charles H crow was nominated by the peoples party and the result of the election was a victory for mr crow who received 71 votes to 26 for mr royle TWELFTH DISTRICT the opponents of the peoples party were out in full force the hitters lat candidate for chairman was T V williams and his adversary was thomas marshall the vote on the chairman was by ballot and consumed considerable time Mr Marshall wies elected b by a vote of 66 to 60 50 oa motion his bis election detection was made unanimous A feeling fee linof lof good goad nature prevailed and when it came to the election of a secretary a supporter of mr marshall sog suggested ested that as their side had won t the he chairman the secretary be givon given to the ot other herand and nomina nominated teil amr geo D who was elected by acclamation and without opposition the report of the trustees a busl busi ness like document which made a very favorable showing was read after if ter which the election of one trustee was proceeded with the liberal candidate was J F millspaugh the peoples J D ly lyon on the former for per was victorious by a vote of 70 to 5 53 51 1 A motion that the trustees call a meeting in december next with a view to as assessing a tax to give the district i a f free ree school was earned carried and the meeting adjourned thirteenth DISTRICT heretofore the peoples party h has as swept sept everything before it in anis part of the city buethe but the abolition of female suffrage has changed the political complexion r rf of f the district the people knew that they were la in the minority so far as aa the registered voters were concerned but they determined to take whatever chalice there was ol of victory every everyman man was at his bis post but it became manifest that theirs was a lost cause when the vote for chairman stood two to one tor for the liberal candidate judge E T sprague Spra gae from that time on ane meeting was in the bands of the liberals and a perfect pandemonium of yells and stamping of feet indicated their joyfulness on the count of the vote the result was that were cast tor for E B critchlow and 60 lor for william naylor fourteenth DISTRICT the apartment in the basement of the Fourteenth Ward assembly rooms booms in which these the school bool meeting was held was densely packed the liberals having ascertained that they had bad a majority made a show of magnarini ty by allowing T G webber to be elected chairman by acclamation joseph lipman and moses W boylor were nominated for secretary and a division of the house showed the vote to be 75 to 65 in favor of the former mr taylor was then elected assistant secretary by acclamation A discuss discussion loh arose as to whether the next business in order was the election of a trustee or the hearing of the trustees report and the meeting voted to attend to the former first the peoples candidate was T G webber and that of the liberals was L H farnsworth Farna worth up to the time when balloting began there had been some disorder and confusion but general good nature prevailed during the balloting trustee how cvet there was more noise which the chairman found it impossible to quell there were many prominent liberals present john marshall C F wilcox and instantly hon HOB john jobo dark clark was nominated as chairman of the peoples party and the name of E R clute was presented almost as promptly by half a dozen voters on the other side trustee jones called a vote hy by a show of hands bands thomas C hull and A L williams were appointed tellers to count the uplifted bands and as they Koce proceeded eded with the task the the scene was very leery un parliamentary the result of the count of hands indicated that mr dark clark had been elected but his bis bents were not satis satisfied tied land and demanded a rising vote As ali fully one fourth beat mr williams by bv the close vote of 71 7 to 72 and mr Hold holding led mr pickard Pic karil by a vote of 75 to 70 four ballots cast for holding were thrown out on account of errors in his cottonwood district A lively time rashad was had and the liberals elected two trustees harry flarry haynes and john B R cahoon by a majority of two votes in sandy district the peoples party met with a
