Holiday Events Slated by City The BountiBOUNTIFUL ful City Recreation Department is planning several events to celebrate the 24th of July. Beginning Wednesday, July 20, there will be a mens softball tournament sponsored by Coca Cola and Sunset Sports. It will be held at the 400 North diamond and at Rocket Park. Teams from Ogden, Davis County and Salt Lake County will be competing for a berth to the Class C National Tournament to be held in Ogden in September. They will play Wednesday, Thursday 'and Friday evenings and all day Saturday and Monday, July 25. There is no admission charge to specslow-pitc- h , tators. On Saturday, July 23, the city will sponsor a horseshoe tourna- ment beginning at 9 a.m. at the horseshoe pits near the recreation center. There will be' an adult and youth division with trophies to the first and second place finishers. The competition is free and you can sign up at the pits that morning. Free swim will be held at the outdoor pool from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and they will have swim races from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The regulai pool hours are 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. A skating exhibition by the -- Utah Figure Skating Club is ; scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bountiful Ice Arena. This is free to the public. From 3 to 5 p.m. there will be a public skating session. Everyone can skate for $1, which includes skate rental. A home run hitting contest will be held on Saturday, July 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the 400 North diamond. The cost to enter is $3 a team. This is sponsored by Sunset Sports Center and prizes will be awarded to the winners.
