Utah, on March 21, 1997, at the age of 81. lie was horn in Gunnison on October 20. 1915. to Harold C. and Myrtle Christensen Nielson. He married Ardell Childs on October 2. 1934, in Lphraim, Utah. She has been his faithful and devoted companion for 62 years. He is survived by his wife Ardell of Gunnison; sister and brother-in-laJentry and Dean Anderson of Axtell: brother and sister-in-law Ira and Fran Nielson of Centerfield; three sons and their w ives Jay and Loretta Nielson of Gunnison; Larry and Echo Nielson of Bryce Canyon; Clair and Marsha Nielson of Orem; 2 grandsons and 6 granddaughters; 2 and 6 He has been a lifelong resident of the Gunnison and Centerfield area. The residents had a St. Patricks Day Party. Four freezers of homemade ice cream were made for the occasion. The sugar cookies with green frosting were served with the ice cream. Games were played and everyone wore green. Earl Jeffs greeted all the visitors in the foyer with a pinch for the day. Ray Smith brought family night and his singing and jokes. It was a big St. Patricks Day. Tuesday, resident council was held. These meetings are held once monthly and is under the direction of resident council president Earl Jeffs. Compliments and complaints are discussed. Residents are read their rights. Tuesday afternoon Aden Johnson, the whistler, Ferron Richins and Wendell Kendal came from Moroni to enter- tain the residents. They sang and whistled and played guitars and banjo. Thank you volunteers out there. Wednesday started with current events followed by snacks and exercise group. Wednesday at :30, seven residents and five staff members drove to Fairview. The residents went to the historical museum. This hour spent at the museum was enjoyed by all. Thursday morning was busy with in room visits and exercise. Thursday 1 afternoon Rose Mclff and Susie Walser were on hand to share a with the residents. Lawrence Jensen was visiting and brought his harmonica. Solos were sung by residents Ruth Peterson and Lester Jensen and visitor Lawrence Jensen. It was an afternoon of music. Friday morning was busy with Salina Chamber of Commerce, Easter Egg Hunt 9a.m. Gunnison Jaycees Easter Egg Hunt, 11a.m. at Gunnison City Park for kids 10 and under.
