Show Page 4 Salina SunGunnisonValley News March 26, 1997 51 Honors Swords Johnson awarded scholarship for leadership conference Former resident of Salina called as Mission President The Utah Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge is pleased to announce the selection of Daniel Johnson as one of 42 outstanding high school juniors in the state of Utah to receive a scholarship to attend the 997 Youth Leadership Conference at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, March 1997. Youth were required to submit an application which included GPA, two letters of recommendation, lists of school and community activities, and e a Patriotic Essay expressing their feelings about America. Steiger, studied computer management at Sevier Valley Applied Tech- nology Center, was one of 50 students "ho weie selected to repiesent their Vocational states in the Student Awards program. As the w inner chosen to repi csent Utah, Steiger, will leceive a $500 U.S. Savings Bond, which will be awarded by Servistar Coast to Coast Corporation. Steiger will then advance to the national judging round. Dannon is the son of Brent and Stephanie Steiger, Salina. Grandparents are Dale and Anna Chappell; and Earl and Marilyn Steiger, all of Salina. Dannon is also serving as the Senior Class President at North Sevier5 High School, and he played for North Sevier on the winning football team. SUU scholarship Julie Andersen, daughter of Paul and Maty Lou Andersen, was recently awarded the Board of Trustees Schol-a- i ship fiom Southern Utah University. This scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship SUU awards.
