The plan was then sent to Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), which oversees the North American Numbering Plan, for final review and approval. h'sf A A f in- formed state regulators that because of some conflicting guidelines governing the assignment of new area codes, Bellcore was unable to approve the Utah plan. One guideline delegates jurisdiction to the states to decide area code relief planning. There is also a recent guideline requiring that the estimated exhaust dates of both the existing and the new area codes be within 5 years of each other. Under the Utah plan, its projected that after the split, the 801 area code will need additional relief as early as 2004. The new area code is not projected to exhaust before 2025. Bellcore referred the matter to the North American Numbering Council (NANC) for resolution. The NANC met to discuss the Utah situation, along with similar situations in Florida and California. Unable to reach a decision, the NANC referred the issue to the FCC. It is not known when the FCC will respond. As approved by the PSC, the Utah plan splits the state into two area codes. Five counties (Utah, Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, and Morgan) would retain the 801 area code. The remaining counties in the state would change to the new area code. The intent of the plan is to strike a balance between impacting the fewest e number of customers with an change while delaying the addition of more area codes as long as posresible. To comply with the at least additional one quirement, county would need to be included in the new area code. n v "v jr h 1 area-cod- ar Customers should not make changes until notified When the PSC approved the Utah plan in late January, some media reported that the new area code would be 435. But industry spokesman Duane Cooke cautioned that its premature to make changes. While it appears likely the new area code will be 435, it is not official, said Cooke. Resurrection Truths the end of this month, the world will remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The story of how Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead will be told many times over. It should be this way, for while the death of Jesus Christ paid the penalty for sin, it was the resurrection of Jesus Christ that secured life after death for At those who believe. Consider the following truths concerning the resurrection. John 5.29 teaches that there are two resurrections; the first a resurrection of life and the second a resurrection of damnation. Those who have done good will take part in the first resurrection and those who have done evil will take part in the second. So, how should we understand what it means to "do good? Romans 3.12 teaches that there is none that doeth good, no not one." Who then can take part in the first resurrection? Those who have been justified by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Paul draws this conclusion at the end of Romans, chapter 3: ...a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law (vs. 28). In Romans 4.3 he says that even Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Since man cannot do that which is good in Gods sight, God counts mans faith in Jesus Christ sufficient grounds to declare man to be righteous (one who does right) and thus saved from the penalty of sin. In Revelation 20:6 we find both a promise and a warning. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power. The second death is the result of the second resurrection, the resurrection unto damnation. The Biblical account of the second resurrection and the judgment that follows is recorded in Revelation 20:11-1Those who are not part of the first resurrection stand before God where they are judged for their works, which we have already seen are not good. All who stand at this judgment are cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death" for those who are not a part of the first resurrection. What is the duration of this punishment? It is "everlasting" (Matt. 25:41 ,46). How does one escape the second resurrection with its eternal punishment? He that believeth on the Son (Jesus) hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36). Pastor Floyd Dobson ness cards, stationery, advertising, - until equipment programming, etc. advised by the industry to do so. He pointed out that customers have about a year before being required to use the new area code. Cooke said once a plan has been approved and an area code is assigned, the Utah telecommunications industry will notify the press and make preparations to launch a customer notification and education campaign. Utah needs to add a new area code because the increasing demand for new telephone numbers in the state is rapidly exhausting the pool of available three-dig- it local prefixes within the existing "801 area.
