10 represented that they bad purchased a flag for their school building and asked the hoard to furnish them with a flag flagstaff on which lo ao the emblem of Americ Amerle arF liberty and independence granted A CHANGE OF TIME A petition from the parents of the pupils put lie of the tenth district school was wag read bisking that the hours houra for an afternoon session of this w school hool be changed from to pm to from 1 to a 3 p m the petition was granted and made to apply to all the schools A NEW TEACHER EMPLOYED upon the recommendation of the COMM committee attee on te teachers chers miss hanny fanny was employed as a teacher at school no 8 at a salary of 50 per mouth month A BUILDING RENTED the committee on school work recommended om mended that a small building adjoining school no 3 be rented for the remainder of the school year year at a rental of 20 for the entire time also that they be authorized to have printed certificates to be awarded to pupils having completed their courses of study adopted OVERDRAFT FOR FOB APRIL the committee on finance to whom was delegated the duty of arranging foran for an overdraft of to meet the current expenses of the board for the month of april reported that the matter had been satisfactorily arranged ELECTION the committee on finance to whom was referred the matter of issuing school bonds presented the following report SALT SAIT LAKE CITY May 1891 to the board of education gentlemen your committee on finance in view of the illegality of the recent bond election as declared by the supreme court of the territory and and also considering that other decision of the said supreme court in regard to the special school taxes of the year 1889 begs leave to submit a revised proposal for an election in furtherance of the issue of bonds for the purpose of raising money for purchasing school sites for building or purchasing ur chasing one or more chool houses and supplying the same with furniture necessary a apparatus P aratus and im improving provin the grounds and IF for liquida liquidating ang an indented indebtedness biess already incurred for such purposes the committee recommends as follows 1 that the meeting contemplated by law be held at as early a date as practicable and be had in accordance acco dance with the provisions of sections to inclusive of the school law ap proved approved march 18 1890 said meeting and election to be called by the president and clerk cleric of this board after r consultation au ta t 0 n with the attorney rard elto ey 0 of this board fr d T the h qualification of electors to b be specified P fied in said avid notice of election 2 that the amount of bonds in gross be named at in denominations of 1000 each the interest thereon to be 6 5 per cent per annum 8 that half of the city getting in its work in the bonding business and would reach the limit pretty soon own mr pike opposed the motion he did not think that the council would exhaust borrowing power and was more than W was needed mr have a as much confidence in the council armr as mr pike and he be the increase mr young also favored the increase In particularly t as the suggestion in regard M d to the council
