Show THE PRESENT SITUATION THERE appears to be some misunderstanding among many as to the effect of the latest action of the supreme court couo of the united states on the church property case in postponing the matter to the next term of court they have left the matter in u quo tho the constitutionality of that portion of the he edmunds tucker act which dis incorporates the mormon church and authorizes the escheat of its real estate above the value of and not specially exempted by the law is affirmed but the scope of the decree is to be reviewed the law does not mention what to is to be done with the personal property of the church which the utah courts placed in the hands of the receiver therefore the court will look into this part of their decree and it maybe may be that some modification fica will be made meanwhile we suppose present conditions will remain undisturbed and in any event before the real estate is in taken proceedings dge will have to be entered and the claims of the church in regard to each piece of property heard and determined we are pleased to see the equanimity of spirit and the firm reliance upon the workings of providence manifested by the latter day saints faints in regard to this attempted spoliation |
