Show THE FAIR the directors meeting on saturday evening more premiums the board of directors of tho tha deseret agricultural and manufacturing Society held another meeting on sa saturday evening there being present and directors bowe read bead thomas empey bean armstrong and movie mie and secretary wells the premium lists to be offered b by the society were carefully con considered and upon the complete list ot premiums is to be published in pamphlet form during the coming week and will be widely distributed tri buted throughout the territory on motion of mr thomas it was decided that an effort be made to secure electric lighting of the exposition building so that the fair may be kept open at night armstrong and winder were appointed to attend to the matter on motion of mr armstrong the price of life memberships in the society WILS was placed at ao 20 25 lite life membership will entitle the holder to be himself admitted to and to enter for exhibition at any fair of the society any animal article or commodity raised or produced by himself within the territory fory of utah without additions addi tiona charge on motion of cf annual mem herships ber ships were placed at 1 on motion of mr thomas the entrance fee or general admission was placed at 25 cents and 10 cents for children under 12 it was determined that stall rent should be charged but the price was left or f future consideration on motion of mr thomas it was resolved that the chamber of Com commerce of this city be invited to cooperate co operate with the society in the opening of the fair and also to interest itself in making the exhibition a success and that printed invitations be issued to the officers of the various chambers of commerce of the cit cities jes in ia the neighboring borin states and territories to attend on motion of mr read bead it was waa decided that the local newspapers be so limited to compete with each other in the procuring of subscriptions to life membership in the soei society ety a special premium ol 01 life membership to be awarded to the paper securing the largest subscription on motion of mr rowe bowe a committee of two was decided upon to elaborate a plan to provide the exhibition with music and at the same time oner offer sult suit abellana abel jand substantial encouragement to the divine art thomas and rowe bowe were appointed on motion kofl mr rowe bowe it was decided that there be a uniformity in the stall signs at the fair and that the matter be strictly attended to as in previous exhibitions the lack ot of uniformity na had been a drawback exhibition it was decided that a baby show be a feature of the fair and a nice mice premium awarded for the best specimen of best crop the new bylaws by laws of the society were read and approved on motion of mr thomas a committee of two consisting of rowe bo we and moyle were appointed to te arrange the details of a vocal concert one evening during the fair to be held at the fair building and to consider the propriety of offe offering ilu prizes for vocal music it was suggested that the various chambers of commerce in utah be asked to lend their aid to the undertaking and to urge upon the people the necessity of brin bringing avo ng their exhibits to the fair and also to solicit special premiums outside of salt lake city the secretary was instructed to ascertain the best rates to be had bad from the railroads for the transportation of exhibits and exhibitors adjourned subject to the call of the president the following additional premiums were offered on saturday A sewing machine ot fared by the 11 bro brothers lers company dorany for any purpose the society saw fit the only condition imposed being that it be placed within the reach of workingmen or working girls by little roundy co a 10 silver ice pitcher to be given as the society should direct W S simpkins 25 to be awarded by the board of directors H R J grant co a gold medal for the best beat design of fire escape grant bros co a gold medal meda 1 for the best carriage team and a gold medal for the best driving team aul aai mals to have been bred and raised in utah and to be owned by one man today the following was received by the secretary SALT LAKE CITY aug 27 aw reber haberm M wells secretary DA am society city dear sir please put us down tor for it a special gold medal to be awarded at the coming fair for the best idea of a barn to be prepares prepared by a boy 20 years ears old or under plan to consist or of one ene general plan of floor one elevation and a full description of the construction of the same yours very truly DALLAS S architects |
