Show theft by a small girl this mornin morning a 12 year arold ar old girl named Lizz lizzie leWil son was before justice on oa a charge of larceny she had bad gone into simons store in the eleventh ward and while the clerk was engaged in the storeroom store room had climbed over the counter and extracted about 8 from the till this was on tuesday she was not even suspected suspect ed of the theft but this morning was caught in the act of r robbing the money drawer and when accused confessed to having taken the mcney on tuesday she had bad spent part of it for a pair of shoes which with nearly hearly all of the cash were turned over to the storekeeper when the child was wae taken before the police justice she told a pitiable story her clothing was scant and she was barefooted her parents live at south cottonwood but barents her er home has been anything but a pleasant one she has been almost entirely without parental care and frequently ill treated she came to the city to live with her grand grandmother mothe but was permitted to run perfectly wild she told how bow she took ook c the money and promised that she won would not again be guilty in vie view w of her circumstances sentence was suspended an application will be made by the city to have the probate judge appoint a guardian for the child as her parents will not care for her that it possible she may maybe be turned from her waywardness her mother mary wilson came to the city hall and took the child away mrs wilson was also there last night but on a different errand she was grimed begrimed be with dirt her clothing torn and disheveled hevel ed and she bore every appearance of having been on a drunken druke spree she said she had lost her bait and the officers hunted it up for her it had bad been tied back of a portable i house that stands west of the opera house on second south street the I 1 woman has been in the city jail several I 1 times for drunkenness |
