| Show AN ACT providing bounties bonnalea for the destree tion lion ot of certain animals and birds SEC 1 be it enacted by the governor or legislative assembly of the territory of utah that the several county courts within the respective counties in this territory are hereby authorized and empowered by an order made of record upon the minutes of such county court to offer and pai pay rewards for the destruction of wild animals animal is and english sparrows within their respective counties not to exceed one dollar each on lynxes prey grey wolves and wild cats 50 cents on coyotes five dollars on mountain lions and bears two cents on jack rabbits and ground squirrels ten cents on musk mask rats minks and weasels five cents on gophers and one quarter of a cent on english sparrows as hereinafter provided 2 the person or persons who shall hereafter kill any of the above named wild animals or said birds in order to receive the reward menti mentioned boned in section one of this act shall produce the head or scalp of such animal with ears attached or the head of such bird before the county clerk in and for said county aforesaid it shall be the duty of such county clerk to diligently examine such person or persons and such other witnesses as said count county 7 clerk may deem proper er on en oath or at fir mation tc touching e time wienand wh enand the place where such sich animal or bidd was so taken and killed and the circumstances cum stances thereof it if upon sue such exam examination the con county aty clerk shall be satisfied that such animal or bird was taken and killed b by th the person erson or persons producing tl he baltor bead or scalp in the abe limits of 0 the county lor for which said county clrk is qualified to act he leball shall immediately cause such aesa bead or scalp to be destroyed and shall issue a warrant on the treasury ol of such county lor for the reward offered in accordance cords cor dance uce with the provisions of this act to the person or persons producing such head or scalp provided provi dw that any pers person on or persons person e must present not less than threes three h hundred n scalps or heads beads of jack rabbits and ground squirrels oi or oot not less than one hundred heads of english sparrows at any one time to entitle him to the reward offered to in accordance with the provisions of this act SEC 3 the county clerk of 91 bac each county shall keep a true account of the moneys paid out under this act and the number of each 1 or english sparrows for for which t ties have ben been paid aid and bili 11 amount so paix paid reaches the agni fifty dollars or more said c cleff e sit present said account sworn to IQ hb clerk as being true au and A d c correct 0 rr acl territorial auditor w who h 0 sh his bis warrant war rant upon toe the to Ter rif W treasurer for one half of said baid B 11 ll which shall be paid by said i out of any moneys in t the e breum otherwise appropriated appropriate and ihas the same to said county K SEC 4 any county court or lt gi time set aside vacate and rose jj order or any part thereof oft Sifi paying such rewards as are nags for for in section one of this MS acla of reduce t the b e a amounts in 0 un ts of such re Q provided that an order beu be WC record to such effect upon japon the of such court and newspaper having general ea in said county at least ten said action shall take effect t W W BITER speaker of the house et f ia natives ta tives 11 ELIAS A SMITH president of the ec approved march 8 1888 CALEB W WESTY governor of utah farih T |
