The Stage Two production opens Wednesday evening and takes a humorous look at sisterly relationships. Loder, opens Wednesday and will run until Saturday night with a special matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Octette is about eight sisters who get together every other Friday to play bridge. It deals with bridge, Catholicism, relationships, aging and life. think "It is a story about family relationships. their own and will home that people analyze go who said Scoville, Chrissy situations," family plays Nora. "It's about life, and life can be comical." Octette is a great opportunity for actresses in the department. It's exciting and challenging work on different emotional levels, said Loder. "Each one of my actresses has grown in different directions. Their limits have been challenged. As a director, I've grown. find that am able to handle most situations better," said Loder. "In order for the audience to be able to believe that they are watching sisters, it was necessary for the actresses to develop a real closeness. We spent several rehearsals working I y v with each other breaking down barriers, so a real concern and caring could develop," he continued. "I needed to teach them that they could love as they hated or hate as they loved. feel that we have succeeded in developing that feeling of sisterhood," said Loder. The play takes place over 10 years spanning the Great Depression and World War II. Loder began researching Octette last summer, finding out about Catholicism, health problems of the aging and the concerns of the Great Depression ri i i i i i i i i i i i i L. the books and hit the slopes! In order to do that, needed to learn what it felt like to be old, experiences that never would have I I experienced otherwise." "One off the most challenging things for me was the difficulty in blocking around the bridge game. In the game, they are sitting down, which for the audience can be very boring. So had to come up with blocking that would be interesting to watch," said Loder. "I never realized before just how much time it I takes to direct a play, which is probably the biggest thing that I've learned."
