According to Sterling Church, vice president for student services, Rulon Armstrong Jones, John Seymour and The Masonic Foundation gave money in the sum of $150,000. In view of this, the short term loan policy has been revised to benefit more students. The emergency loan, as some are calling it, is just that: a loan to help get a student out of an emergency. According to Church, the short term loan should be used to help students if there is no other financial aid available, if they are waiting for aid, if it is needed to help pay tuition and fees or for personal emergencies. A maximum of $350 can be borrowed on a short term loan but must be paid back by the is needed end of the quarter. Also, a DRY CLEANERS, INC. West Center Street ( edar City. "The main problem of going into this field is that you would have to leave southern Utah," says Clark. "The companies are located in larger cities, especially in California. There is special interest in Oakland." Clark worked for Arthur Anderson for about two years. He says that the company employs people in "auditing, accounting, tax consulting and management information consulting." He adds that new students might want to consider accounting as their emphasis, since the need for accountants is growing. A cannot be an employee of SUSC or a spouse of a college employee, and a $15 application fee is also part of the money payback. Students who do not pay back the money will be assessed a default fee of 10 percent which will be added to the cost. The nonpaying student will not be able to register for school. "Students have been good at repaying their loans which is commendable," Church said. Students who are interested in applying for a short term loan should contact the Financial Aid Office and pick up a short term loan form. According to Church, "The Financial Aid Office is the only agency which can issue credit on er campus." "We are fortunate for these donors," Church added. "Because of them, it has helped us to increase loan money to more students more significantly."
