Taking Charge of Your Life is being sponsored by the SUSC Womens Resource Committee and is available as a credit or class. Faculty and staff are invited to attend any or all of the presentations which start this week with a lecture on building relationships by Dr. Glen Jensen, chairman of the department of family and human development at Utah State University. Details can be obtained from program coordinators Ella Van Groningen, or Ada Carpenter, 586-779- 586-899- Reading clinic set Friday is the application deadline for admittance into the SUSC Reading Clinic. Children and teenagers 7 through 17, and in some cases adults, e are privy to tutoring in reading, spelling and writing through the SUSC program. Karen Bess, clinic manager, indicates that nearly 400 youngsters have benefited from their experiences here on campus. Bike tour slated A y Scotland bicycle tour of England and this summer for individuals who want to closely explore the environments that influenced the works of prominent British and Scottish writers. The tour, held from June 4 through 25, is available for eight hours English credit and for an additional two credits in physical education. Sarah Solberg, SUSC English professor, will serve as the tour guide. She received her doctorate from the University of Edinburgh and has cycled over 15,000 miles throughout England and Scotland. is being offered Tour participants will stay in inexpensive youth hostels. They will travel by Britrail and rent bicycles which will allow for travel to places. The $1,500 tour price includes round-tri- p air fare; a Britrail pass and cycle rental; lodging in youth hostels; recording fees for SUSC credit; a textbook, coach tours, and theatre tickets. New shows start This months program at the Ashcroft Observatory deals with Voyager IIs encounters with Jupiter and Saturn. Observatory shows are held at 7 p.m. each Monday and Friday. Theyre free! Brent Sorensen, observatory director, indicates that the slide show presentation highlights the best photos of the two gas giants and their moons, and that each session will be accompanied by stargazing through observatory telescopes. |
