the institution on Fri friday btty atty nov commencing at 10 am there were present of tle tie the members of the tile board prest A 0 smoot H 11 II cluff esq and myron tanner esq counselor david john and bishop john yohn bohn E booth together toge lher with numerous visitors and the entire faculty the sides of the large hall hali were occupied led by elaborate exhibits from th the e ladies ladles ladies department and from the classes in penmanship and drawing the pro gramme included frequent exercises in vocal music by the choir 9 and the various department singing 9 classes after the opening exercises the members in em of the faculty presented in turn the report of their respective departments with comments on the examination of the classes the ladies department was represented by mrs jennie tanner the preparatory department by wallard willard done the intermediate by jos B keeler Academic the by nels neis felsl L nelson the collegiate by edward 11 snow and prof benj cluff jr and the scientific course and normal department part ment by professor james E talmage prof K G maeser the principal then read his report to the board and ana from it the following items are culled the statistics of general attendance for tile the term have been entered of whom five left for justifiable J us tillable causes during the term the report stated considering the hard times and the uncertainty in I the minds of the public concertin concerning our accommodations the attendance this term is an evidence of the hold which the institution has upon the affections of the people the regard to a successful term with what different feelings are we enabled today to day to cast a retrospective view upon this so much dreaded term A full normal department and all other departments largely attended students present from colorado arizona nevada and fifteen counties of utah our Poly society in full operation a periodical of our own started a atory in such operation as we avo never
