Show Culture Scene The Salt Music Faculty of t Two plays, The Callers and Im Nobody, written by Dr. David A. Kranes, assistant professor of English at the Univeisity of Utah, will have their Utah premiere Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Babcock Theatre of the Pioneer Memorial Theatre. Both are directed by Dr. H.E.D. Redfnrd, associate professor of theatre. Dr. Kranes wrote numerous scripts while playwnght-in-residenc- e at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Conn. Several ran as aj productions. Initially Written for Radio The Callers" was initially written for a national radio drama eonttst and was among the winners of that contest. Dr. Kranes has adapted the script for production on the Babcock stage. The piav deals with a lack of communications theme, but not in the absurd vein. The two characters, Ted and Ester, played by Dan Handley and Charlotte Pomeioy, fall in loe over the telephone. They hae never met (ace to f ice. The second play, I'm Nobody, has apjieared It deals witli a lonely girl, a complete innocent reared in a lighthouse with her father, who has come to New York to live with her sister. She at last decides to have She an experience. meets an young man and invites him to her apartment while her sister is away. Bitter ami Disappointed Man The man proves to be a bitter and disappointed, yet sensitive, person. He refused a position offered to him as an executive in Ins uncle's potato chip firm because he wanted to be his own man and because he disagreed with the idea of business. He is bitter because be must still live on handouts from his wealthy uncle. The man is played by Jeff Forward, the girl bv Heidi Hayes. The plays will continue through Satuiday.
