But if they beat you to it, remember, little boys often like the job of removing beetles. KINDLING: Gather it ahead for summer fires. Lanterns: Theyre becoming popular again, and if properly strung outdoors can be safe and lovely on a balmy evening. Nests: When birds have flown, gather up nests that can be reached, sterilize them, spray with gold, silver or colored paints and use decorative-l- y with little china eggs or place one in your tree at Christmas. Outdoor Lighting: This is a project that may require all your effort this season, if you want tu do it well. Light up paths, terraces, lawns, driveways, pool and see how much fun it can be outdoors in the evening. POOL: Is it the year to buy one? If you have one, organize the maintenance of it. Paint: There's always some place that needs it. Quiet Spot: Everybody needs one. Is there a large tree a little distance from the house where you can put a bench, and perhaps a standing bird bath? Roof: Check it for loose shingles, etc. SUMMERHOUSE: If you dont have one, think about sucli a romantic spot of Victoriana. Terrace: Flagstones, bricks, cinder block will do it. Take your choice. Ultimatum: Its what you plant in the family's head when you delegate chores. Vines: There are all kinds. White hyacinth is strong and beautiful on a stone house. The Virginia creeper is a fast grower anywhere. A rambling rose is lovely at a post and rail, picket fence or growing up the side of a little cottage. n WORMS : Theyre wonderful for the garden, so don't try to eliminate them. It can he a good shape for planting where you want divisions between four or more kinds of plants.
