(8-0- And for those hardliners who would want to retain the same divisions and same regions, etc., there is a very simple solution. Lets take Region Three, division one for ex- ample. There are five schools Granite, Murray, Jordan, Hillcrest and Judge Memorial. Granite andMurray have gained state tourney berths because they finished with the best records of the five schools. But why not involve all five schools in a simple g playoff to determine the two state berths? Let Granite have the bye for the best record. team play Judge, the Let Murray, the second-plac- e e team, and let Jordan and Hillcrest the third-an- d fourth-plac- e teams, play. The two losers are out while the two winners play for a state berth. The winner, already assured of state, plays Granite for the best seeding. During the time this scribe has covered the high schools, the theme has been to aLow every school to n enter play for an opportunity at making the state tournament. There are 51 schools in Class B playing basketball Class A schools, 23 will have had a chance second chance in many cases to make the tournament. Why not the other 17 ? . Thre are 51 schools in Class B playing basketball and of that number 36 will have had a second chance and to through round-robin-s make the state tournament. Why not the other 15? Out of 91 schools, 59 are vying for 32 spots in the two state meets. To throw out the other 32 seems highly inequitable, but yet the togs undoubtedly are stored awhy already at many of those schools. Perhaps through the system which takes effect next September, there will be more of those 32. outsiders taking part in play. Certainly, no one can be adversely affected by allowing every school to have a second chance at gaining the state tourneys. . both win final games, they will have to playoff for the cinch state berth.
