Show Thursday, Dec. west valley view Danish Ableskiver 25, 1980 4 Ardonna Alsop Reveals Her Secrets For Old Danish Recipes Every country has Christmas food that is unique and dear to that area and no matter where those people roam over the face of this earth when the Holy Season nears . . they return to tradition and serve their . . . . own food. special Sweden has its Limpa bread, the Czechs have their Hoska. Austria has its beautiful pastry and England year after year turns to its modern day equivalent of the Boars Head, Yorkshire and Plum pudding. But, if you are Danish, oh those smart Danes, there is nothing that spells Christmas like those beautiful, versatile, favorite . . . Abliskivers. Part of the Danish community here in the valley is Ardonna (Mrs. Mel) Alsop of Murray and, in her wish to spread the Danish spirit of Christ- mas, she shares this recipe with us. It is a very versatile food, Ardonna says. You can make it plain, you can make it fancy. You can serve them for breakfast or as a luncheon treat. Its just the way you dress it up that changes what it is. Tuna fish or cubed chicken makes a main dish and when you cover them with whipped cream and fruit you have a dessert. Theyre wonderful, she laughs. e It does take a special pan, this tells, but that can be bought in any of the speciality shops around here.
