Id been dreaming for four years or more of being able to go to school in America, so when my mother said I could go for one year, I didnt hesitate, said Finnish student Laura Lindberg, who is now attending Kearns high. Students received three reports a year and one letter offering encouragement and suggestions. Physical education is required in Finland, as it is here, but there are no big games with cheerleaders and pep clubs. There are sports clubs, mostly gymnastics, she said. Most people live in apartments in Finland, the student commented. And there are certainly not so many cars as here. Languages are considered essential in Finnish schools. Laura Miss Lindberg a few reported quite differences between school back home and school in America. The entire system is different, she said. Her school in Finland included a different schedule each day, arranged in k periods, she said, and also allowed 15 two-wee- minutes between BENNION. Miss Lindbergs hobbies include knitting, from until May. she does enjoy American food. Miss Lindberg is not here on a student exchange program, but she is enjoying her visit very much.
