Its not often that a can boast of having written a saleable movie or television story, but Dalian Taylor has done just that. It came about one day when he was watching the movie Grease on a neighbors T.V. I just started writing down a story I thought about, he remembered. It took some two months to produce Luke, the name of the main character, a stoney, who is persuaded by a friend to give up his bad ways and go straight. The jealousy of his long-tim- e friend Chris at this turn of events produces the intrigue in the script. Id say it takes about 20 minutes to read it the straight through, young man estimated. But, if it were made into a movie, it would be about an hour. His original story is being sold to a man in Las Vegas who was contacted through a mutual friend of the two. The young author, who previously submit- ted three childrens stories for publication, used to sing in a rock group and the contact was made through this source. His talents fall along musical lines even now. Nevada-base- d group, The Rangers, uses him as a singer whenever they appear in this area. when the offer came to me. It is a possibility that one of these times, Luke will be shown on T.V. or in a theater so that people of the area will be able to see and hear the story young Dalian Taylor thought up that day in his friends living room. A dozen new officers will join the police force officially on Monday, allowing Chief David C. Campbell to develop a traffic control division. Their ability to enforce the traffic code, particularly in school zones, will be assisted by the arrival earlier this week of three new radar units. The new units can be mounted in police cars and are able to determine the speeds of vehicles being driven either direction on a street, Campbell said. Until now, the West Valley department has had two radar units, both of which are hand held. The new units are more precise and easier for officers to use, the chief noted.
