A native of Chat- tanooga, Tenn., Brown has been interested in magic since he was 5 or 6 years old. When he became old enough to read the Bible, his in- terest was further heightened because he wondered how biblical characters did what they did in the Old Testament. He read books and took a few lessons from a retired professional magician, but he didnt get down to serious work until he came to Utah in 1978 after spending three years in Israel. Since then he has performed at holiday parties, benefits, at the Magna Senior Citizen Center, Granite Alternative School, various LDS wards and a Jewish community club back east. In due time, as he gets better, Brown plans on going into show business full time. In the meantime, however, if it doesnt interfere with his work, he will perform for parties and other gatherings free of charge. He maintains that practice helps to hone the magic skills from mere tricks into a fine art. He claims that magic itself is one of the most ancient art forms. There has always been a certain amount of wonder associated he said. with magic, As long as there are people wondering about how Moses parted the Red Sea and how Elijah brought down the fire from heaven, there will be people who will be fascinated by the art of magic. Married with two children, age 13 months and two weeks. Brown said his wife wont have any part of the magic act. He noted that he has to recruit assistants from the dience, but hopes to perau- port of retaining - but recognize there. To prove his point. Brown said that if a man believes from birth that he cant use his right index finger, he will never use it. But sometime later when he finds out that he can, it will become an integral part of his body. So it is with magic, Brown said, God is alive and magic is afoot, he added with a grin.
