Farrel was selected by the troop committee and the presentation was made by Assistant Szoutmaster Rulon Dean Skinner. Scout Craig is president of the Second Quorum of Deacons of the Safford Ward, Mt. Graham Stake. He received the In-, dividual Certificate of Award for outstanding Church work in 1949. Farrel became senior patrol leader of Troop 20 last October and has done such an excellent job that he has received council-- Wide recognition for his ac-!. tivities. He was one of five scouts representing the Three G. Council to participate in a ceremony presenting the report of Scouting in Arizona to the Governor. Why an orchestra? It seems the deaf people are unusually good dancers, and they keep time to the vibrations of the music. They enjoy this form of relaxation, and enthusiastically attend the occasional dances sponsored by their branch. The Gold and Green Ball was no exception in this regard. The hall had been beautifully and artistically decorated by the MIA presidency and superintendency. Five lovely queen can. didates were promenaded and penny votes (the proceeds to go to the branch fund) were cast for the winner. queen-crowni- She was pretty Colleen Bess, and graciously accepted her crown from Branch President Willard E. Barlow, who directs all activities for this group. AN INTERESTING feature was the floor show presentation by a group from the Ogden, Utah Deaf Branch. The six dancers had performed previously in their own city, and accepted the invitation of Elder Barlow to attend the Salt Lake event. Branch members come from all over Salt Lake Valley. 'In addition to periodical dances, they attend sotmePietures- - every two weeks. They bring their children who enjoy the sound, while the older people enjoy watching the movies.
