These students have gradu- ated from Westminster, but theyre still here, now as employees of the college. They decided to stay at Westminster because of the positive experience they had while attending school. I really enjoyed Westminster, I probably wouldnt be here if I didnt, said Sarah Lof. Its just nice because its small, she said. Lof works as the front office assistant in the registrars office. Lof graduated in 2008 with a bachelors of science in psychology and then received her masters in community leadership. There are alumni working in different areas throughout campus with different degrees. Below are three students who, like Lof, decided to stay at Westminster after graduating. Ernesto Negrete MBA Admissions Recruiter Graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor ofArts in Communication No I didnt at all, said Ernesto Negrete when asked if he had expected to work with Westminster after graduating. Negrete graduated in 2010 and is now the MBA admissions recruiter. He oversees applications and the admissions for graduate programs in business at Westminster. His plan was to go into the air force once he graduated. He had already gone through the testing and screening and was ready to join. ' But according to Negrete, the air force was . with so many applications at the same time that it flooded stopped all applications. I just kept looking at the college website and the local paper for job openings, said Negrete. SCOTT salon - The Career Resource Center told him to always be checking is what made it really special. She currently works in the Career Resource Center. Anything that needs to be done in the office is dealt with through her on a daily basis. I knew I wanted to stay in academia and I loved Westminster, said Richard. Rich- Westminsters website, which lists job openings for a number of businesses. They had some really good job postings, said Negrete. I just kept doing that for a few months and then this position opened up and I applied, he said. He spoke to professors and students about the job and heard good things about it. His positive experience in his undergraduate program crossed over into his workplace. It was pretty easy to get involved in things, said Negrete. In his undergraduate program he loved playing basketball with friends. Negrete volunteered out in Idaho for a student leadership event and he was the founder of the Latin club on campus. He said he cant really take credit for the accomplishments of the Latin club, but says its cool to see new members taking the club to a new level. Now that I am here I dont know if I want to go anywhere else, said Negrete. ard looked at the Westminster job site consistendy until there was a position that suited her desires. ' Everybody says networking, networking, networking, that is important but realizing that your whole life is a network, said Richard. Its friends, its parents of friends, its professors, it is people who come speak on campus, and this college provides a lot of that, said Richard. She advises students who graduate from school not to focus on a direct path, but be really open to opportunities and being willing to move around and just see what comes. Chad Labdon Rebecca Richard Computer Support Technician Career Center Coordinator Graduated in 2009 with a Graduated in May 2010 with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication and a minor in psychology Bachelors of Science in Sociology It was fabulous, said Re- becca Richard, describing her undergraduate experience. She attended the University of Utah in the early seventies, but dropped out due to personal reasons. She decided to go back to school and get a degree from Westminster. I liked both experiences, but I especially liked Westminster because it is really personal, said Richard, knowing every one of my professors really well I had a good time, good professors, small classes, I dug it, said Chad Labdon, describ- ing his Westminster undergraduate experience. Labdon is currently working as a computer support technician. He provides software and hardware support for everyone on campus. He helps manage the support phone.
