Mohr, an advocate for same-se- x marriage, has been he since a traveling speaker published his first book, GaysJustice: A Study of Ethics, Society, Law, in 1988. Mohr said his goal is spreading the word to people who can spread the word further. His most recent book, The Long Arc of Justice: Lesbian and Gay Marriage, Equality and Rights, focuses not only on marriage, but also civil rights, stereotypes and discrimination in the military. Mohr describes it as a handshake of greeting from gay experience to mainstream America. Mohr mil focus his lecture on three main points, the first being the progress that has been made for gay and lesbian rights. According to Mohr, progress on the social and cultural level has been made even though progress has been stalled in the political arena. Gays and lesbians are no longer those ghouls and monsters hiding, and we can start to acknowledge that we know people who are gay, he said. 116 Diversity Lecture Series: Richard Mohr Vieve Gore Concert Hall, 7 p.m. 117 Internship Fair Shaw Center, noon While female students may outnumber the male students in a typical Westminster classroom, the complete opposite is true in the aviation program. Of the approximately 120 aviation majors, only 17 are female. Five of these women have come together in order to create a Westminster chapter of the Ninety-Nine- s, an international organization that works to provide support for women in aviation. According to the organizations Web site, www. the group was founded in 1929 by Amelia Earhart and other female pilots. The name came from the 99 original members of the group. Its mission is to promote world fellowship through flight, provide networking and scholarship opportunities for women and aviation education in the community and preserve the unique history of women in aviation.
