Price Elks Fete Old Timers at Annual Niqhf Of special significance to Price Lodge, No. 1550, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, was the Old Timers and Past Exalted Rulers Night celebrated Wednesday, February 23. A record 168 ELECTRONIC AIR CLEANERS and ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS plenty of clean hot water for sure! members were present to pay tribute to them in general, but to pay homage in particular to Harris Simonsen, P.E R., in recognition for his participation in the practice of Elkdom. Mr. Simonsen had given much of his time as an officer and organist for the organization. As a token of aphis brother Elks preciation, passed a resolution as proposed by William A. Daniels, past exalted ruler (P.ER.), granting him honorary life membership, Unfortunately, Mr. Simonsen was ill and was unable to attend the affair and on February 28 he succumbed to his illness. Arrangements were made by Joseph Glorioso, P.E.R. Festivities for the evening at the Elks Home included dinner for all; initiation of new members Phillip Turner, John L. Menotti, Jr., and Von Davis, conducted by the past exalted rulers; musical program rendered by Organist Earl F. Hills and vocalists John A. Nikas and Calvin Jewkes; and presentation of the coveted 20, 25, 30. ar emblems 35, 40, 45, and by Exalted Ruler Grant Babcock upon introduction by Secretary Elmo A. Turcasso. There was but one award to highlight the meaning of Old Timers Night. It was made to William A. Engle who joined the Order of Elks in Salt Lake Bill City, February 2, 1916. Engle was bom September 1, 1883, at Wilmington, Delaware, which makes him an octegenarian with a life of historic interest. He spent his early life in the San Francisco Bay Area after having gone transcontinental as a baby in a railroad car heated with a coal stove. During the land rush of the early 1900s he came to Colton, Utah, where some dubious characters separated him from his money. How to Be Mr. Engle joined B P O E February 2, 1916, as stated, and demoted to Price Lodge on November 26, 1952. Dining the years prior to the chartering of Price Lodge in 1929, he and thirty other stray Elks in tns aiea banded together and formed an Antler Club with headquarters above the old First National Bank Building, now Walker Bank. He served as president of this group at one time. He has served on many major committees and doesnt hesitate to say that Elkdom is the greatest fraternal organization in the woild. In recognition of anotner Old Timer, a resolution proposing was read in honor of Angelo Georgedes, who has been a member of Price Lodge for over 32 years having been initiated into Price Lodge on November 11, 1933, WILLIAM ENGLE member . . . 50-ye- ar Denver Judge Addresses Knife-For- k A Step Ahead of the Weather- GET A GAS CLOTHES DRYER. Finesilver to his audience of the Castle Valley Knife and Fork Club in February, and this outstanding personality, a old Denver legal official, left several thoughts to consider. Among these topics, Judge Finesilver spoke of divorces, and expressed his opinion that more counseling for young marrieds would be good to help them overcome small problems which get out of hand. He also communicated his ideas s, whose on neglected neglect does not necessarily come from poverty, but often, he said, the very fact of wealth contributes to certain types of neglect. The visiting judge had borrowed two choice items from a Denver museum to show his hearers. One was an old law book, originally the property of Abraham Lincoln. The other was a piece of cloth, formerly part of an actress skirt. After Lincoln received his death shot, the actress had spread her skirt beneath his bleeding head, according to the lecturer, and the stained piece of cloth eventually was acquired by the museum. For this Country Club meeting, East Carbon members, with Mr. and Mrs. James Cassano and Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Farnsworth in charge, provided centerpieces of pink and white carnations for the tables and the preliminaries. Mrs. Shefton Gordon directed the singing of America the Beautiful, accompanied by Mrs. Cassano, and Larry Stevens gave the ini ovation Knife and Fork Club President Joseph Deloha extended a welcome to guests before presenting Dr. Roy W Robinson, who in- ar troduced the guest speaker.
