It is not too encouraging to note that the vote in Carbon county was just average. Citizens just cant seem to realize that to vote is one of their greatest privileges under our constitution and it is much greater when one has the privilege of taking part in the initial selection of candidates, the elimination and in the final determination. The Iron Curtain countries, too, have a vote, but there is a difference. Here we have several candidates from which to choose over there they usually go to the polls and vote for the can- - didate chosen by the party and in most cases his name is the only one on the ballot. The primary contest in Carbon county was a vigorous one and we believe a clean one. All candidates aspiring to office were good men but as in every contest there has to be a winner and a loser. We congratulate the winners and compliment the losers on a battle well and cleanly fought. Now it will be up to these winners to carry on into the general election campaign and we hope that the issues are met squarely and debated on their merits. A campaign can be strongly fought without mudslinging and the American people as a whole are more inclined to lean to good sportsmanship character assassins do not make good public servants, The voters should remember that. A PROJECT WHICH MAKES SENSE The Price Business and Professional Women have come up with a project which, to our way of thinking, is one of the best to come forth in a long time. Thi3 project centers its attention on conservation and that is a subject that can never be taken too lightly. This year the BPW Women are placing packets of grass seeds at the disposal of every hunter with the request that the hunter take a few moments of his time to plant the seeds in barren areas he comes upon. These seeds, it is pointed out, will eventually aid materially in the conservation of our d watersheds as well as provide forage for the wildlife that is so dear to the heart of every sportsman. Each man, woman, and child, who sallies forth this fall in the quest of big game should cooperate in every way possible with the BPW Women. The seed is available and the hunter has only to devote a few minutes of his time. That is asking very little for a project that can result in so much much-neede- good. So be a sport, sportsmen, and do your bit. Dont be a Dope, Plant to save the slope, and Take a moment to plant the future of a Nation." These slogans are part of the BPW program, They contain the whole idea in a nutshell. . . . the rest is up to you. J. C.
