The new birds will supplement existing populations of turkeys on Elk Ridge and the LaSal and Blue mountains. The turkeys were purchased in South Dakota, captured by means of a drop net baited with com, oats and sunflower seeds. DWR biologists transported the turkeys in specially prepared boxes over 1 ,200 miles to their new homes in Grand and San Juan counties.
