Many 900 services provide legitimate worthwhile services. But many consumers have found themselves unwilling victims of 900 number fraud. Public Service Commission Chairman, Ted Stewart, Attorney General Paul Van Dam and Dept, of Commerce Director David Buhler have joined together to release Telecommunications Alert 900 Number Fraud, to warn Utahns about the potential dangers of calling some 900 numbers. Many unwary Utah customers are losing hundreds and thousands of dollars t the 900 number schemes, according to Van Dam. The FCC is now proposing new guidelines on 900 number services, if adopted, these numbers and that after such time no one shall have any cause of action to contest the regularity, formality or legality thereof for any cause whatsoever.
