Show 6 The Salina Sun Wednesday, Oct 10, 1984 JV fWr 33 NSHS grad stars SUSC sports Team Ujt0n0 sir 1 f hr avenges Loss kiS Sevier Junior Varsity North football members avenged their only loss of the season last week by defeating Manti JV The first half ended with the Wolves trailing, 16-Manti was doing a great job of passing, said Coach Rex McKee. He reported that Manti had a sophomore quarterback who was used on the varsity team as well, who was connecting with the passes. "They were picking us apart. Running their offense like BYU, everybody get out and get into the open for the pass, said McKee. It was not until the second half that the necessarv adjustments were made for the Wolves defenses, and the passing game and scoring attempts by Manti were cut off. The defense was changed from a monster, to a 3 pass zone defense, and this seemed to do the trick. Our defensive secondary kept the receivers covered, the quarterback was forced to stay in the pocket too long, and our line took care of the rest to shut them down, McKee said. Touchdowns came from Mark Colby, as he intercepted and ran for 50 yards; Cory Thurston, Kyle Bosshardt, and John Shields running in for scores, and Mike Hansen receiving a pass in the end zone. North Sevier will play an early game against Parowan, Wednesday, October 10. It will be their Homecoming Game. The Wolves were victorious over Parowan 39 when they met in their first game earlier this year. 36-1- ? ,v s? Once again the game was statistically dominated by the Wolves, but they fell short of the win. The game began with the Wolves kicking off to Beaver, with Beaver fumbling the kickoff. North Sevier took advantage of this field position and moved the ball to the four yard line. Because of a penalty and aggressive defense, North Sevier opted to try for a field goal on a 4th and goal situation. The field goal was missed, and ended the early scoring attempt by the Wolves. Midway through the second quarter Beaver went to the air, and successfully marched 75 yards for the first score of the evening. In the third quarter, NSHS rushed for 107 yards, with Beaver rushing for only 35, but again it was Beaver who scored. Due to a North Sevier penalty the extra point attempt was for two points, and its success made the score, 15-In the 4th quarter North Seviers 0. offense came alive and they marched 75 yards downfield to score. Brendon Bosshardt sparked the offense as he ran for 60 yards. Jeff Edwards received the ball five straight carries before he took the ball in for the score. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game. The Wolves regained the ball with 6 seconds left 15-- 0 on the clock, but could not complete a score. That is as good as Beaver has played this year, said Partridge, due to sickness and injury, the Wolves are only 75 percent healthy, and they still played with great intensity against the Beavers. Two players will be out of this weeks game because of injuries. Jeff Edwards received a bruise on his knee, and Gaylen Springer is out with a bad sprain. The Homecoming Game will be played tonight, October 10, at 7:30 p.m. here at home. This will be a e game, as the Wolves defeat against Parowan, 40-- 0 earlier this year, counted as a league game. non-leagu- Kanab now leads the league with a perfect 0 league record. Beaver and North Sevier are tied for second, at 1 and 1 respectively. Parowan is 2 for third place, and Milford is on the bottom, at The closeness of last weeks game was shown by total offense for Beaver of 208 yards, and total offense for North Sevier at 209 yards. North Sevier was beaten on the ground, 176 to 75 yards, but ruled the air, 134 to 32 yards. Each team had three fumbles, and four penalties, for a loss of 40 yards each. Overall, Partridge said that with last weeks game they lsot the battle, but were still winning the war, as it was the most intense game they had played all year, with lots of good hitting, which is a sure sign of winners. 2-- 2-- 0--2. . Open the action and look and feel inside. Never take anothers word for safety. The excuse, I didnt know it was loaded, is never acceptable. 2- .Always point the muzzle in a safe direction.
