To be eligible, one must have been a resident of the U.S. for at least six months, never married, and be between the ages of 18 and 24 of 16-1- 7 pal Tim Smith has requested authorization to apply to participate in the Utah Principals Academy sponsored by the State Department of Education. The project was authorized. Discussion resulted in a motion which passed unanimously, that the Board does not support the way the Principal Academy is organized, that the concept is good, but should be funded and handled on a local school level. A new funding consideration for local school districts was on the agenda of the State School Board meeting held earlier. The Board discussed the philosophy and direction of education and decided handwork, quilts, dollhouses and toys. Lots of work went into the Fair, and fairgoers got some great holiday ideas. CRAFTS FAIR: The annual Fall Crafts Fair was held Friday and Saturday, with a great variety of home crafted items ranging from homemade candies and cookies, to delicate FFA Roundup Everyone had their assigned duties to carry out. Work on the mountain took most of the morning. A chapter meeting was held at noon, and the new officers conducted the meeting: President, Brett Gurney; Vice president, Dexter Crane; Sentinel, Gaden Horne; Secretary, Kevin Serrano; Treasurer, Brendon Bosshardt; Reporters, Shane Harward and Ted Mickelsen. The Greenhands, (First year) performed skits for the chapter, on Self awareness. BYU Grads Named Students from this area were among the 2,241 graduates who received diplomas in late August at BYUs summer commencement. Graduates represented 45 states, the District of Columbia and 38 other countries. Combined with the December and April graduates, the total 6,517 degrees conferred during the academic year sets a new record for BYU and is a 4.9 percent increase over last year. Of the 2,241 graduates, 1,210 or 54 percent, were men, and 1,031 or 46 percent, were women. There were 55 doctoral degrees, 418 Masters, I,- 617 Bachelors and 151 two-yeassociate degrees. Salinas graduates included: Kent J. Stone, with a BS in Industrial Ed.; Scott Anderson, with a BS in Chemical Engineering; Randall Burr, BS in Premed-Denta- l. friends and neighbors at 743 Bataan, Ridgecrest, CA 93555. The Chapter has again decided to to involve more use people in the decision making of the chapter. Twenty two new Green-hand- s were inducted during the meeting. Cabin checkouts and cleanups were carried out in the afternoon, and the group headed home on the bus. The Chapter plans to have a summer camp to work on improvements on the pasture. Hershey Giant Size Bars Region 10 directors appointed a committee to study the number of student activities in Region 10 schools and the mount of time they took from the school day. The committee has determined that the number of activities seem to be taking as much time as sponsored activities - if not more. Out of state travel for Superintendent Tuft was authorized. He will attend a conference in Washington, D C. October Rhea Mickelsen will be moving to California with her son, Arlo. They also received bridging patches, fly-u- p wings, and dabbler patches in arts. The second grade Brownies attending the ceremony were Sara Frame and Bree Mason.
