We invited them to the archeological open house and while explaining the Book of Mormon my eyes would occasionally dance around the living room. While doing this I spotted a- midst the potpourri of odds and ends an ugly old clay mask about 25 inches tall. It was an Indian death mask standing somewhat forgotten by the T.V. set. Oh good! I had found something visual to tie in the Book of Mormon and the Lamanite story. So I used it. There was a great deal of love in their humble home and they accepted everything we gave them. Soon it was time to take our leave. In turn they presented me with the heavy clay mask. I couldn't possibly accept this I just couldn't, I said. I had a thousand excuses but he insisted and said, It is compliments of Mr. Williams. He was proud as a peacock when I finally took it and I must admit the gift somewhat astounded me. This program is administered by the Utah State Soil Conser-- , vation commisson. It is designed to provide the opportunity for ranchers to make range improvements and reap the benefits now while letting improvements help pay back the loan within the ten year time before. To obtain these funds the state requires a written plan (with maps) drawn up by the ranchers and the soil conservation districts with help from the Soil Conservation Service. Also required is security for funds requested in the form of land valued at 1.5 times the amount requested. Ranchers also must pay closing costs of note (usually value) and must also provide title insurance or abstract on collateral. Pay back on the loan is within a ten year time frame which begins at the time the load is signed. If you ar a rancher and are comtemplating range improvements such as brush control, range seeding, water developments, fencing etc., you will want to check out the possibilities of financing them under the Rangeland Development Fund program. Applications may be made by individuals or groups of ranchers. Isaiah prophesied of the birth of a Savior. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a ' virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Then about 735 years later, while Joseph was considering breaking his engagement with Mary because she was with child, he was enlightened. But while Matthew 1 :20-2-3 he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by 'the prophet, saying, Behold a virgin shall be with child, And shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with 744-267- 6. The music provided by the choir is the beautiful Chorus in the Skies by Fred B. Holton and includes duets, solos, quartets and a variety of anthem hymns centering upon the birth of Christ and the meaning of this sacred event for everyone in todays world. Following the service of worship, the two congregations will share a dinner to be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Tremonton church. Along with Christmas entertainment, a puppet show, and the breaking of a pinata, the occasion will include a visit by Old Saint pot-luc- k Nick. Those attending this event are asked to take a salad and-o- r dessert and eating utensils. The Tremonton congregation will provide coffee, punch, and hot dishes. Sundays sermon topic will center around the Apostle Pauls statement in II Corinthians 8:9, For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his proverty you might become rich. Howard Hughes was rich, but apparently not in this way. This is true riches, and we can have it through Christ. Thats why a true Christian has reason to celebrate Christmas.
