Show I Boars fall to Ogdon Bear Bfaer aif Weber Mfltf la realan Friday With one win and four under their belts, the Bears of Bear River take to the road Friday to open defense of their Region One title against Weber High. Now 5 after a 7 loss to unbeaten Ogden last Saturday, should-have-bee- 49-4- the Bears are probably the ' underdogs against a Warrior ' five that isnt as strong as last season and is winning at a 0 rate in preseason. ' Coach Paul Jeppesen is still looking for consistency in his players, a factor that was notic-abl- y lacking against Ogden on Saturday night. Outplayed badly in the first half, the Bears came back in the third period to control most of the rebounding and pull within with a little over two one, minutes to play. 50-5- , 32-3- 3, Few Lapses ' But Ogden took advantage of and jumped back a few ' ahead lapses on four straight baskets to lead 2 at the end of the ' ' third. But the Bears made another with run at the Tigers, now Tad Morrison, Nolan Hess, Mark Williams, Roger Norr and Barry Bradshaw all scoring to keep within striking distance. , The Tigers hit a pair of foul pitches with about three minutes left to lead 2 and that ended their scoring for the game. The Bears, however, had a few things left to do. Bradshaw came back after the pitches to hit a shot and Hess was fouled and he made A one of two shots. Trailing the Bears went unable to vert. 49-4- 5, ni ' con- Corner Shot The Tigers missed a floor shot and Williams took the rebound, then seconds later, canned one from the comer to bring it to 47-4- 9. Ogden turned the ball over three more times but the Bears couldnt capitalize on an offensive foul and two missed one and one pitches that were rebounded by the Tigers which doused any hopes. A miserable 31 percent from the floor also dampened any Bear hopes. Williams and Morrison each hit 12 points for the losers in the game. It will be a long round of region games for the Bears unless consistency becomes a part of the game. It was obvious from the streaks of heads up, tenacious play Saturday that the Bears have the ability to play with most teams. 2- - 12 Mi 12 Brail shavs 0--0 Norr 0-- 0 I ftm fti IK r Bush m 49-4- Elder freshmen racked up another victory on the wrestling mats Tuesday, downing Sunset Junior High school, 89-county school. But theres nothing that beats a hot meal to keep the spirits up and the fishing fun. Knowing that many anglers like to', fish during the cold months, and that most of them would enjoy a hot meal at midday, Mercury outboards outdoor recreation staff did some with a Dutch experimenting oven last winter in an effort to h meal that develop a anglers couid enjoy on a cold day. They wanted something good to eat that was filling, and could be carried and prepared in one pot. They settled on a beef recipe for home-mad- e stew. To make a h stew meal, start the night before you plan to go fishing. Cut up a pound or so of beef, dip it in flour and brown it in some bacon grease in the Dutch oven. Next, peel and cut some potatoes and carrots, chop some onions and celery, and add any other vegetables you want. The quantities are up to you. Put all this into the Dutch oven, add a can of tomatoes with a little water, and cook the stew for 10 minutes. Then set it off the stove to cool and wait for the next day. Overnight, the flavor of the browned meat will soak into all the vegetables to make a delicious dish when it's The next day, at lunch time, pile up some driftwood gaihered along the lakeshore and get a roaring fire started. Set the Dutch oven in the middle of the flames with its lid on, shovel some coals on the top and let the ingredients cook for another 30 minutes. When its done, rake off the coals and your hot stew is ready to eat. Andersens Ford drew a bye. High point man for Ganlners B.
