Ever notice how i t' M- -- irir i v A s' by Karen Christensen Have you ever nQticed how a fire engine attracts people of all ages? The other day the kids and I were sitting in the truck waiting for Curt. Since the truck was parked right by the Are department we got a first hand view of the goings on. The fire alarm started ringing and everyone on the street seemed to freeze in their spots. The cars that were in the lanes just pulled over to the right and stopped. It took about five minutes of ringing the alarm to get the fire men there, by that time 3) there was quite a crowd. Then the sirens on the trucks started blowing and every eye ' was on the station. The first truck came out and there was a lot of pointing and staring. No one moved as the other three trucks pulled out and headed for their destinations. World Stopped . It seemed like the whole' world stopped for 10 minutes. . . just to watch the fire engines go by. There really is something fascinating about them.
