Harris Mr. and Mrs. Heinz Uhrig of Bruhl, Germany, and daughters, Ute and Christine are house guests of the Uhrigs and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Sonja) Roderick and daughter, Camie. The Uhrig family was met at the Salt Lake City airport Thursday by the Rodericks on their arrival from Kansas City, Mo., where they were guests of and daughanother ter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Veronica) Wilts and family for the past two and ene-haweeks. After visiting here for two and one-haweeks they will leave for Augusta, Ga. where they will be the guests of another and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tom (Gerda) Woods and family before returning to Germany. The Gibbs family reunion was held Saturday at the Portage jI I " i 4 ward church grounds with families represented from Salt Lake City, East Garland, Ogden, Blackfoot, Hamer, Pocatello, Tremonton, Garland, Buffalo, Mont., Renton, Wash., San Diego, Calif., Idaho Falls, Bountiful and Portage. I Overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoskins Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hoskins and sons, Blaine and Rick of Roy. Their daughter, Tammy who has visited with her grandparents for several days returned home with them Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd (Florene) Madsen and daughter, Teresa of Newark, Calif., visited with Mrs. Madsens mother, Mrs. Esther John and other relatives the forepart of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Hoskins, son, Brent, and granddaughter, Shanna, of Clearfield spent the weekend here. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jessop of Logan and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dawson of Clearfield visited Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hoskins and with Mrs. Laura Gibbs. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielsen and Mildred Tovey of Malad visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thomas at their home in Pocatello. Attend Performance Maurine Gibbs, Ora Hoskins, Sharon Green and daughter of Tremonton attended the performance, Saturdays Warrior at South High School in Salt Lake City Saturday evening. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Petty and family at Farmington. Ila Mae John and daughters, Mary Ann and Melonie were among guests of Mrs. Johns mother, Mrs. Leona Williams of Malad who hosted a birthday party in honor of Mrs. Williams daughter, Kay Williams Monday. Others present were Rosalee Hill of Downey, Marie Goodey of Clarkston, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williams of Henderson, Nev. and Mr. and Mrs. Sharrell Williams of Malad. Fay Thomas and Laura K. Gibbs visited with Mrs. Ethel Hall at the Godfrey Nursing home in Brigham City Thursday. Mrs. Hall remains in serious condition. Baby Girl Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John of the birth of a baby girl Monday, July 21, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. (Skip) Chandler of Salt Lake City, their first child. The new mother was the former Leona Faye John. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John, Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Chandler, Roswell, N.M. Greatgrandmothers are Mrs. Esther John, Portage and Mrs. Leona Williams, Malad. Mrs. Laura Herrington of Butte, Mont., was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Chester P. Neal for several days. Mrs. Herrington and Mr. and Mrs. Neal spent the weekend as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Neal and family of Jerome and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wiser of Twin Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Devere Harris hosted a dinner and fun day at their home in Liberty Saturday for men of Mr. Harris agency of National Public Insurance Co., their wives and families, 51 in all. The activities of the day included eating, motor bike riding, various outdoor games, wading, fishing and hiking. They will also visit many points of interest. Friday Mrs. Nina Lamb accompanied by Mrs. Lucille Potter of West Fielding were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. Dean Grover in Salt Lake City. Saturday they left with the Faldmo tour on a y trip to Palmyra, N. Y. They will attend the Hill Cumorah pageant and visit many historic points of interest. Last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vanderhoof accompanied by their houseguests Mrs. Moliece Davis and daughter Michelle of Los Angeles visited Mr. and Mrs. Oleen Vanderhoof and family in Boise. During the week they were joined by Molieces husband, Tony Davis, and their son Darren. TTiey will spend the coming few weeks at the Vanderhoof home. Christina and Angie Steed of Tremonton have been staying with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Steed while their mother Mrs. Farrell Steed was receiving medical care in the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Agnas Archibald has returned home after spending the past three weeks visiting her sister Mrs. Millie Hess in Rockland, Idaho. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Nish during the past week were Storrer and Mr. and Mrs. DeVerl Nish and family of Idaho Falls. Mrs. Orvil Nish is reported to be recovering slowly after receiving medical care in the Logan hospital. Attending the rodeo in the Salt palace in Salt Lake City Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lamb and family. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Udy and family of Portage. In Salt Lake City they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Bart Williams and family and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Williams and family. Mrs. June Lewis and children Sherry and Allen of Tremonton spent Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Mason. Holly and Michelle Mason of Mr. and Mrs. Dell Citrus Heights, Calif., are spending a week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Hal Mason and family. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Hansen of Burley have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Theone Hansen in Bear River City and Mr. and Mrs. Hal Mason and family in Plymouth. Returns Home Mrs. J. B. Estep returned home Thursday after receiving medical care in the Tremonton hospital. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Estep during the weekend were Doug Estep of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Estep and granddaughter Bonnie Robbins of Tremonton. Stephanie and Conrad Wakely of Bancroft, Idaho, have been visiting their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lamb while their mother was in Logan for their little brother Jason who was receiving medical care in the Logan hospital. Friday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lamb were Mr. and Mrs. Tim Thorpe and daughter Jennifer of Hon-eyvill- e. Temple Wedding The Logan LDS temple provided the setting for the marriage of Miss Jean Bronson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bronson who became the bride of Roger Cannon in nuptial rites performed Friday. President Lloyd Hunsaker officiated at the double-rin- presence g ceremony in the of immediate mem- bers of both families and a few close friends. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was hosted for the bridal party by the grooms parents held at Chases Charcoal house in Tremonton. That evening the young couple greeted guests at a reception hosted by the brides parents held in the Belmont ward cultural hall. Dancing was also enjoyed. Decorations were in western style and very effective. A lovely trousseau was on display. Connie Ward and Reta Olsen, sisters of the bride, were her attendants. Bridesmaids were Margaret Smith, Lyn Austin, Julie Richins, Linda Burns and Patti Holmgren. Kimberly and Alicia Ward acted as flower girls. Gary Cannon assumed duties of best man for his brother. Elaine Hoesch was at the guest register. Jean is a graduate of Bear River High school and LDS She attended Utah State university in Logan majoring in business. She is seminary. presently employed at the Anderson Lumber Company in Tremonton. Roger is also a graduate of Bear River High school and LDS seminary. He fulfilled a Texas LDS mission. He attended USU in Logan. Currently he is employed at Thiokol Corp. Following a short honeymoon will make their the newly-wed- s home in Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Owen and family enjoyed a family Fors-ber- g reunion held at Bear Lake during the weekend. Boating, water skiing and picnic lunches were enjoyed. David P. Gibbs and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Morris were on their way home from the Hotter family reunion at Brigham City. Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs Allen visited with Mrs. Pearl Mason at Garden City Sunday. Harris was the speaker at the Relief society part of the Regional Youth conference at Tremonton, Garland and Malad, Idaho stakes. Mrs. Tony Davis of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Gary Allen of Malad visited with Mrs. Gibbs Allen Wednesday and Mrs. Letitia Sorenson of East Garland visited with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Saturday. Letters and phone calls have been made to the people in our government to make them aware of this situation. This post office has been in operation for one hundred and two ears and many of us have decided it is well worth this effort to continue to keep it. A community without a post office seems to lose its identity. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Norr attended a family reunion at the Val Leavitt home in Fielding last week. Mr. and Mrs. Todd Dewey had come from Anaheim, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dewey also came up from Ogden to get in on the good and Mrs. Ralph Howell Sunday. Mr and Mrs. Ora H. Visit Gardners Mrs. Karen Kirkeby and children visited with the Horace Gardner family, Sunday. They returned to their home in Ely, Nev. on Monday. Mrs. Don Smith, Paul and Jim, have returned home. They have been visiting relatives in Nebraska for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Germer and Bonnie had a delightful vaca- tion trip last week. They visited Capitol Reef National Park, attended the Manti Pageant, Green River, Fish Lake, and then visited their daughter and sister, Colleen, in Provo. Henry Marble was taken to the Logan hospital last Friday for medical treatment. Progressing Nice to say that Mrs. Dewey Gardner is progressing after surgery last week in Ogden. Miss Lori Gardner and Ryan Gardner accompanied their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Goodey of Clarkston, on a vacation trip to Texas. PAY TELEPHONES The cost of pay telephones has risen 130 percent since the nickel call days of the early 1950's There are more than a million and a half pay phones in this country today. The first patent for a telephone booth was issued in 1883, seven years after Dr. Bell invented the telephone. NEWLY INSTALLED DeMolay officers are from left: Ken Jones, junior councilor; Bill Hooper, master councilor; and Eric Heesacker, senior councilor. These young men will serve in the Leland Stanford chapter of DeMolay. DeMolay installs new officers The Leland Stanford chapter of the Order of DeMolay held its installation of officers recently in ceremonies at the Brigham City Community center. Installed as master councilor was Bill Hooper, with Eric Heesaker as senior councilor and Ken Jones as junior councilor. Other officers installed were: Ken Broadbent, scribe; Goron Dodd, treasurer; Steve Dodd, senior deacon; Dave Thurston, junior deacon; Bob Hooper, senior steward; Don Bolieau, junior steward; Mark Giles, chaplain; Ed Pendleton, mar shall; Cary Johnson, Standard bearer; Tom OGrady, sentinel; Ed Munson, orator; Doug Balmer, almoner, and John Kase, Scott Underwood, Robert Hudak, David Moore, Brian Baird, Dale Olds, and Steve Sheehan, preceptors. Also at the ceremonies, John Shigley and Dan Thirkill were invested with the Chevalier degree. This is the highest honor that a DeMolay can receive. The honor signifies all round development in many areas including church, school and home life.
