Brent Sorensen allowed seven hits for the county nine as his teammates shelled the Brigham on July 17 at City bunch Pioneer park. And the next day, the county lads, behind the pitching of Gene Billings, edged Brigham to win the right to enter City into further tournament play. Joe Ramsdell, Donny Tom and Eric Epperson were opposing pitchers for the losers in the first game. Other hits were singles by David Edmondson, Kelly Webb, Doug Wheeler (two) and Billings (three). In the second game, Billings went the distance on the mound for the winners.
