Show t I ... Temple rite weds couple . . . Miss Contance Maynard exchanged wedding vows Tuesday, July 15, with Steven J. Harper in ceremonies in the Logan LDS temple, with President Gregersen of the temple presidency officiating. The new bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Maynard of Layton. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Neil Harper of West Corinne. For the wedding the bride chose a Victorian styled floor length polyester gown with lace overlay on the front panel, yoke, collar and cuffs. The dress had a w ide ruffle at the hemline. She wore a finger tip veil of matching lace. The wedding ensemble was created by the grooms mother. That evening the new Mr. and Mrs. Harper were honored at a wedding dinner for members of the family and close friends. The dinner was at Sherwood Hills in Sardine canyon. The bride greeted guests in a white eyelet floor length dress with long sleeves and a gathered elastic bodice. Miss Maynard attended Weber State college and Utah State university. Harper fulfilled a Texas North LDS mission and attended Utah State univeristy. He received an Associates of Arts degree from Brigham Young university in April. After a wedding trip to Vale, Colo., the couple will make their home in West Corinne. Mrs. Wilbur Hedrick this week's good cook Good Cooks A top cook, homemaker by Flo Munson She sparkles! As a cook and a homemaker she rates near the top! This describes Mrs. Wilbur (Erlene Gordon) Hedrick of Perry. Erlene was born in Logan. She spent her girlhood in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High school. She also graduated from Utah State university, majoring in elementary education with a minor in fine arts. She was a training school teacher for six month prior to her graduation. It was while attending USU she met her future husband. They graduated the same year. Wilbur majored in history and social science. Following their marriage they were in Ashton, Idaho a short time while Wilbur was employed with the U.S. Forestry service. They each taught school in Tooele afterwhich her husband taught for several years at Intermountain school in Brigham City. He is now chief of education for personnel at Hill Air Force Base. For her wedding and reception, the bride wore an all lace gown of empire styling with a standup collar and wrist length bishop sleeves trimmed in tiny seed pearls and' sequins. A deep flounce topped with self lace and trimmed in seed pearls and sequins accented the hemline of the skirt and train. Serving as maid of honor was Miss Lola Church. Her gown was of empire style in mint green dotted swiss. Bridesmaids were the Misses Jeri Jensen, Kaylene Jensen and Debbie Moulton. They wore gowns of yellow dotted swiss styled similarily to that of the maid of honor. Best man duties were performed by Dan Moulton, cousin of the bridegroom. Ushers were Royce Jensen and Jim Moulton. After a short wedding trip to Southern Utah the couple was honored at an open house in Jackson on June 28. They are now at home in Jackson, Wyo. Robinson in Brigham City on July 14 for luncheon following a meeting of the Utah Presbyterial board held at the Protestant Student center. Mrs. Robinson is president of the group, which represents local United Presbyterian Womens associations located from Logan to Cedar City. She was a dealer and then manager for a toy company in Salt Lake City for three years. She has been a representative manager for the Avon products for Cache, Box Elder of Weber county. Finding her work required her to be away from her family a good share of her time she now serves as a substitute manager for Avon products. We have a large garden this year and I anticipate doing lots of canning. Traveling appeals to me, Erlene went on. We will be leaving soon for a vacation in Yellowstone and on to Mt. Rushmore. Brown gr. beef and onion. In saucepan mix br. gravy and enchilada sauce mixes with 2 c. cold water. Heat to a boil, then add tomato soup. 1 more min. Stir until smooth and simmer Grate cheese. In casserole dish, layer meat mixture, sauces, cheese and a layer of tortillas; Repeat until there are three layers; Place remainder of sauces and cheese on top. min. Woodruff Hansen announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Daunis, to Chadwin S. Wright, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo D. Wright of Salt Lake City. The couple has set August 6 as their wedding date with the ceremony to be performed in the Salt Lake LDS temple. The bride is a graduate of Box Elder High school. She has attended Ricks college and Brigham Young university. The groom is a graduate of Granite High school. He has served an LDS mission to England. He is a graduate of Brigham Young university with a master's degree in political science. He has taught LDS seminary in the Granite school district. After their marriage the couple will be residing Washington, QUANTITIES LIMITED NOT ALL SIZES in D.C. The Eggbeaters was fun. We Wednesday at made a lunch for our mothers. We made some pudding and then we made some hogies. We got the cookies we made other weeks; we froze them for this lunch. We went outside and played until the mothers came. Our mothers enjoyed it very much. Brown 6 pork chops, Take c. raw rice, 3 c. water, cook until half done (about 7 min.) To rice water add 1 bullion cube and salt to taste. Pour mixture into buttered dripper pan. Place browned pork chops on top of rice. Cover with foil and bake 25 to 40 min. at 325 degrees. Remove from oven and pour 1 c. cream of mushroom soup diluted with water on top. Cover with foil. Place in oven. Bake 10 min. Serve with green beans, jello salad, garlic bread or scones. 1 PICNIC PUNCH (for large crowd) 1 1 46 oz. 12 c. Boil Add Add 8 pineapple juice, oz. can) 1 46 oz. orange juice, '(or frozen sugar, 4 oz. citric acid, together for 5 min. enough water to make 10 gallon, (or ice) choice of food coloring, or colored ice. CHEWEY BARS (4 dozen squares) Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease dripper pan. 1 pkg. yellow cake mix, y2 c. br. sugar, 2 T. butter or margarine, 2 T. corn syrup, l3 c. chocolate chips, (or raisins) 1 c. chopped nuts, 2 eggs, 6 T. water. Blend all ingredients well. Spread in pan. Bake 25 to 30 min. When cool, cut in 1 or 2 inch squares. Karen Keyes, The Make and Bake Quartet The Make and Bake Quartet held their first meeting on July 9, at the home of Susan Yagi. Officers were selected and future plans were made. The Susan officers are as follows n Yagi as president, Shaila as vice president, Kim Carter as reporter, and Natalie Woodward as secretary. Our club will combine second year sewing and fourth year cooking. The leaders are Selma Yagi teaching cooking and LaVone Woodward teaching sewing. Wednesday the 16th we held Bun-derso- our second meeting. Natalie Woodward opened the meeting with prayer. We learned how to choose and buy good vegetables.
